🎉 BIG NEWS, PTA FAMILY! HELP US WELCOME OUR NEW ACCE! 🎉

Please join us in welcoming Colleen Baltrusaitis, PT, MPT, CCI, COS-C, as the new Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) for the Lackawanna College Physical Therapist Assistant Program! 💙❤️

Colleen has dreamed of becoming an educator since she was a teenager. With a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Misericordia University and years of clinical experience, she’s excited to bring her passion for teaching, mentorship, and student success into the classroom and clinical education setting. 🩺📚

From acute care and skilled nursing to inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, and home health, Colleen brings a wealth of experience to our program. She looks forward to teaching Kinesiology, Neuro Rehab, Medical Terminology, and supporting our students and faculty wherever she’s needed!

When asked about her experience so far, Colleen shared how amazing, supportive, and dynamic the team has been—and how much fun it is to come to work! 🥰

We’re thrilled to have Colleen on our team and look forward to all the wonderful things ahead for her and our PTA students!

Welcome to the Lackawanna College PTA family, Colleen! 🐾💙

👯‍♀️😂 Twinning Is Winning… Happy PT Month! 💙🩺

No group chat. No dress code. No planning whatsoever. 😂

And yet somehow, our PTA students and staff keep showing up dressed like they coordinated outfits weeks in advance! 🤣👕👟

At this point, we’re convinced there’s a secret PTA dress code nobody told us about. 👀

Coincidence? Great minds think alike? Or is this just what happens when you spend too much time together in the PTA program? 😂💙

Whatever it is, we’re calling it a win!

🎉 Happy PT Month to all the physical therapists and physical therapist assistants making a difference every day! We’re celebrating the profession, the future PTAs in training, and all the fun along the way!

🧠💙 Neuro Lab in Action!

Our second-year PTA students have been diving into neurological rehabilitation over the past couple of weeks, putting their knowledge into practice through hands-on and simulated contextual learning experiences!

From simulating a return to football following a neurological injury to exploring gait training technology, our students have been developing their understanding of neurological conditions and the interventions used to help patients improve mobility, function, and independence.

These experiences challenge students to think critically, adapt interventions, and consider how to apply classroom knowledge to real-world patient care as they prepare for their upcoming terminal clinical experiences. 💪🩺

We love seeing our future PTAs build confidence and expand their clinical reasoning skills through active learning in the lab!

🤝 Building Connections Through Interprofessional Education! 🩺💙

A few weeks ago, our Lackawanna College PTA students joined fellow Lackawanna College COTA students and students from Marywood University for an exciting Interprofessional Speed Meet!

During this interactive, hour-long event, students connected with peers from a variety of health science programs, learned about different healthcare professions, and explored how each discipline contributes to patient care.

These opportunities help our future healthcare professionals develop a better understanding of other roles within the healthcare team, build communication skills, and recognize the value of collaboration in providing quality, patient-centered care.

A big thank you to Marywood University for hosting this engaging event and helping our students build connections beyond their own programs! 👏

🥤😂 Spirit Week: Anything But a Cup!

Our second-year PTA students understood the assignment! 🤣🙌

Spirit Week brought out the creativity, laughs, and school spirit, and this drink-from-anything-but-a-cup challenge did not disappoint! 💙

We love seeing our PTA students having fun, making memories, and enjoying the college experience outside the lab!

🎓 Preparing for Clinical Success! 🩺💬

Our second-year PTA students recently participated in a simulated learning experience in our new PTA 221: Professional Issues in Physical Therapy course!

Through realistic case scenarios, students stepped into challenging situations they may encounter in clinical practice and practiced using different communication strategies to navigate each interaction. From professional communication and problem-solving to adapting their approach in difficult conversations, these experiences help prepare our students for the demands of their upcoming terminal clinical experiences.

💡 Because being a great physical therapist assistant takes more than clinical skills — it also requires strong communication, professionalism, critical thinking, and the ability to navigate challenging situations with confidence.

We’re excited to see our future PTAs continue to grow as they prepare to transition from the classroom to the clinic! 💙

🎬✨ Spirit Week, Day 2: Dress Like Your Favorite Movie Character!

Our first- and second-year students had fun showing off their favorite characters today. Everyone brought their own level of movie magic, and we snapped a photo with the students who joined in!

We even had a Harry Potter moment of our own: Dr. Reedy and second-year student Jayson showed up in matching wizard style. When Jayson’s lightning bolt needed to go, the Program Director’s magic goniometer wand came to the rescue. 🪄📐

Thanks to everyone who joined the fun!
