Pink Out is a reminder that no one faces cancer alone. 💗

At Saturday’s DWU Pink Out Football Game, players took a moment to honor loved ones affected by cancer by filling out ribbons sharing who they were playing for. Throughout the event, attendees also showed their support through donations for Avera cowbells and pink hair extensions.

Pictured are Lori Crago, ACI Mitchell Manager; Dr. Katrina Almeida and Mara; and Molly Sutton from the Avera Foundation, helping spread awareness and support for those impacted by cancer.

Thank you to DWU Athletics, the players, and everyone who helped make the day meaningful.

Thank you to Emma Heins, Carl Olson, and Heidi Thomas for representing Avera at the 45th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner and Children’s Charity Fundraiser.

For 45 years, this incredible event has raised millions of dollars to support children’s charities across South Dakota, including Avera’s Family Visitation Center. We are grateful for the longstanding commitment of our law enforcement community, not only for protecting our communities but also for investing in the next generation.

A big thank you to the Sioux Falls Area Pickleball Club for hosting the Dink in Pink Pickleball Tournament which raised $2,000 to support breast cancer patients and services through Avera!

The tournament, which also included a raffle, was held at two different locations October 23-25. Along with a great day of competition, participants shared heartfelt notes of encouragement that will be distributed to patients of all ages facing a cancer diagnosis.

Throughout the event, players shared personal stories of how cancer has impacted their lives, reminding us why events like this matter. We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated, donated and helped make a difference.

It takes a community to bring an event like Light the Night to life, and we are so grateful for ours.

Before the big night arrives, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to our incredible committee members and volunteers. Events like this take countless hours, thoughtful planning and a whole lot of people willing to say, “How can I help?”

Your compassion for the patients and families we serve, hospitality in creating a special experience for our guests, and stewardship of your time and talents are what make Light the Night possible.

We truly couldn’t do it without you. Thank you for showing what it means to come together as a community in support of patients and families right here at home. ✨

What an incredible example of leadership and compassion from a young member of our community! 💗

Jules (Julianne) Grady of McCook Central High School presented a check for $3,533 to Tara Kocourek, Director of Breast Health, Katie Van Beek, VP of Oncology, and Dr. Luis Rojas Espaillat, Gynecologic Oncology to support local breast cancer patients.

As part of her senior project, Jules raised funds through multiple initiatives, including designing and selling her own T-shirts, adding hair tinsel at Dig Pink Night, and hosting a bake sale. She also took time to educate younger students by speaking with 3rd-5th grade classes about Breast Cancer Awareness Month and ways they can support those affected by cancer. To help them get involved, Jules created a special card for students to color and write encouraging notes to breast cancer patients.

Jules' dedication, creativity and heart for helping others will make a meaningful impact on patients and families throughout our region. Thank you, Jules, for turning awareness into action and showing what one person can accomplish when they are passionate about making a difference. 💕
