COVID affected all of us—but for people in recovery, isolation brought another layer of challenges.

In this episode of the Movement Podcast, David Stoecker and Josh get real about their personal experiences with COVID, including the symptoms, the fear, the lingering effects, and what it was like to be separated from family and community.

But this conversation becomes about something much bigger:

❤️ Why connection matters in recovery
❤️ How isolation can impact people who are struggling
❤️ Why recovery communities are so important
❤️ And why we can't always know how a health crisis will affect someone else

If you're in recovery, supporting someone you love, or work in the recovery or mental health field, this is a conversation worth hearing.

Are we really working together to address the overdose crisis—or are we just meeting together?

In this episode of the Better Life in Recovery Movement Podcast, David Stoecker gets candid about what happens when organizations, community leaders, treatment providers, and recovery advocates work in silos while people continue to die from overdose.

After a spike in overdoses in Springfield and Greene County, David helped organize an Overdose Summit that brought hundreds of people and organizations together to provide real, actionable resources—including Narcan, treatment options, recovery housing, and harm reduction education.

But bringing people into the same room isn't enough.

We need to listen to people with lived experience. We need to break down silos. We need to share resources. And most importantly, we need to turn meetings and conversations into action.

Because behind every statistic is a person. A parent. A child. A friend. Someone who matters.

** Stories: Recovery is possible. ❤️**

What happens when someone who has known hopelessness, addiction, homelessness, and despair finds a different path?

They find purpose.
They build a life.
They give back.
They discover hope.

In this story, Jeff and Same share their journey from addiction and hopelessness to a life filled with community, purpose, and hope.

Recovery isn't always easy, and it doesn't look the same for everyone. But people can find recovery from substance use disorder and they go on to live meaningful, productive lives.

Sometimes the most important thing you can do is find your people, stay connected, keep showing up, and **just stay.**

Watch this powerful story and share it with someone who needs a little hope today.

In this episode of the Better Life in Recovery podcast, David and Josh have a powerful conversation about **overdose deaths, harm reduction, Narcan, the Good Samaritan Law, stigma, and why collaboration matters.**

Watch the conversation and tell us: **What can we do better when it comes to working together to save lives?**
