🎃👻 HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM STANLEY AMBULANCE SERVICE! 🚑🧡

The pumpkins are glowing, costumes are ready, and little ghosts and goblins are hitting the streets in search of sweet treats! 🍬

Our EMS crew wants to share a few tricks to keep your Halloween full of treats and free of emergencies! 🕸️

🔦 Light Up the Night! Use flashlights, glow sticks, or reflective gear to keep your little monsters visible!

🚸 Watch for Wandering Zombies! Look both ways, use crosswalks, and stay alert around traffic.

🍬 Inspect Those Treats! Parents, give that candy a quick check before the little ghouls dig in!

🎭 Keep Costumes Safe! Avoid tripping hazards and masks that block vision.

🚗 Watch for Little Monsters! Drivers, slow down and stay alert for excited trick-or-treaters!

🍻 Don’t Make a Scary Decision! If you’re enjoying adult potions, plan for a sober ride!

🚑 While you’re out making spooky memories, our EMS crews are ready if things get a little too frightening!

Today, we pause to remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the first responders who answered the call without knowing what the day would ask of them.

Hundreds of EMTs and paramedics responded to Lower Manhattan that morning. Ambulances filled the streets surrounding the World Trade Center as EMS crews established triage and treatment areas, cared for the injured, assisted with evacuations, and prepared for thousands of patients.

Among those who responded were eight on-duty EMTs and paramedics who would not return home:

(Paramedic) Carlos R. Lillo — FDNY EMS, Battalion 49
(EMT) Yamel Merino — MetroCare Ambulance
(EMT) Richard Allen Pearlman — Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps
(Paramedic) Ricardo J. Quinn — FDNY EMS, Battalion 57
(EMT) Mario Santoro — New York-Presbyterian Hospital
(EMT) Mark Schwartz — Hunter Ambulance
(EMT) David Marc Sullins — Cabrini Medical Center

They came from different agencies and wore different uniforms, but they shared the same mission: to help people in need.

While others were desperately trying to escape the danger, EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, police officers, and countless other first responders moved toward it. For EMS, their equipment wasn’t hose lines or ladders—it was cardiac monitors, oxygen, medications, trauma supplies, stretchers, and medical bags. They went because people needed them.

Twenty-five years later, we remember not only what happened that morning, but the courage, service, and sacrifice of those who answered their final call.

Today, Stanley Ambulance Service remembers the EMS professionals who gave their lives, the first responders who served beside them, the victims who never made it home, and all those whose lives were forever changed by September 11, 2001.

Different uniforms. Different agencies. One mission. To save lives.

🇺🇸🎆 Happy Fourth of July from Stanley Ambulance! 🚑

A few friendly reminders before you channel your inner pyrotechnics expert:

🎇 Fireworks go on the ground… not in your hand.
🍺 Alcohol and fireworks are a terrible team. Pick one.
🧨 If a firework doesn’t go off, don’t walk over and stare at it wondering what’s wrong. It doesn’t like that.
👀 Keep kids, pets, and spectators at a safe distance.

Things we’d NOT love to hear today:
❌ “Hold my drink and watch this.”
❌ “I saw it on TikTok.”
❌ “It’ll probably be fine.”
❌ “Let’s see what happens.”

Things we would love to hear:
✅ “Everyone still has all ten fingers!”
✅ “Nobody needed a ride in the ambulance!”
✅ “That was the best Fourth of July yet!”

Have fun, enjoy the fireworks, eat too much barbecue, and celebrate with your family and friends but make smart choices so the only lights you see tonight are in the sky.

Preparedness doesn’t happen by accident.. it comes from training, teamwork, and people who are willing to put in the work before an emergency ever happens.

Cora, Ken, Matt, Jarrod, and Max worked alongside the lifeguards at the Stanley Outdoor Swimming Pool in Stanley, ND for a hands-on emergency response training. Lifeguards reviewed rescue techniques, CPR and AED skills, patient care basics, and what to expect when EMS arrives on scene.

The day wrapped up with a realistic drowning simulation that tested communication, response times, and coordination from start to finish. Every person involved played an important role in strengthening the response system that protects our community.

When seconds matter, preparation matters even more, and the lifeguards at the Stanley pool proved they are ready to respond when called upon.

Great work by everyone involved in making this training a success! 🚑

Did You Know?

Before the first 911 call ever comes in, the work has already started.

Every shift begins with:
✔️checking equipment
✔️testing monitors
✔️restocking medications
✔️preparing the ambulance
✔️making sure everything is ready for the day

Because when emergencies happen, there's no time to realize something is missing!

This week, we recognize and thank all EMS providers and first responders who serve their communities day and night.

EMS is built on teamwork, compassion, professionalism, and dedication. Every call, transfer, standby, and emergency response reflects the commitment of those who continue to show up and care for others when they are needed most.

Thank you to the entire EMS community for the sacrifices you make, the long hours you work, and the care you provide every single day. Your service does not go unnoticed.

BIG news for our community! 🚗

Cora Wolsky, Stanley EMS EMT and Briana Dazell, Stanley PD SRO, have spent the week in training and are now Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians!

We’re excited to bring this FREE service to Stanley and the surrounding communities. We will check and inspect your child’s car seat for proper fit, positioning, and installation, while providing guidance to help ensure your child is safe and secure on every ride.

Did you know that 1 in 4 car seats are installed incorrectly? That’s why we’re here.

This is a judgment-free zone. Our goal is simply to educate, support, and help keep your child safe while traveling.

We will be hosting community car seat check events, but you can also call anytime to schedule an appointment with one or both of us.

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming our local Girl Scout troop for an ambulance tour.
These girls were polite, curious, eager to learn and everyone even got the opportunity to experience a ride on the stretcher!

We are so thankful they took the time to stop by and for the thoughtful (and delicious) cookie delivery! 🍪💚We appreciate the continued support from our community and enjoyed sharing what we do! 🚑
