I was asked to give one example... and somehow ended up giving about ten. 😂
In my defense, I spent years working almost exclusively with children and families before opening my private practice, so talking about behavior management comes pretty naturally to me.
While my caseload these days includes more adults, couples, and relationship work, I still love working with children and families and would be thrilled to have more kids on my caseload.
One of the most important things I teach parents is that behavior is communication. When a child is struggling emotionally, it often shows up through changes in behavior before they have the words to explain what they're feeling.
Some examples to watch for include:
✨ Talking significantly more or less than usual
✨ Eating significantly more or less than usual
✨ Spending much more or much less time with friends
✨ Major changes in grades or school performance
✨ Sudden shifts in mood, energy, or behavior
These changes don't automatically mean something is wrong, but they can be clues that your child is navigating an emotional experience and may need additional support.
If you're looking for support understanding your child's behavior, improving communication, or navigating family challenges, I'd be happy to help. 💜
Special thanks to for inviting me to be part of this conversation and recording this clip. 🙏🏽✨️
