Every child develops at their own pace, but there are important movement skills—known as gross motor milestones—that help support healthy growth and development.

Common Gross Motor Milestones Include:
✔️ Rolling over and sitting independently
✔️ Crawling and pulling up to stand
✔️ Walking, running, and jumping

Remember: Milestones are guidelines, not deadlines. If you have concerns about your child's movement, balance, or coordination, early intervention can make a meaningful difference.

As we age, staying active takes more than determination—it takes 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙮.

Most people think of physical therapy as something you do only after a surgery or a major accident. In reality, you should think of a physical therapist as 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵. Here is how a quick check-up can help you stay active this season:

● 𝗜𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: We are trained to identify movement patterns that cause pain before a major injury occurs.

● 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: We can create a plan to help you safely transition back to your favorite sports or leisure activities.

● 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: If those morning jogs are already causing knee or back discomfort, we can help ease that pain and keep you moving.

If you want to improve your ability to keep moving, reach out to our office today. We are taking new evaluations and consultations to help you reach your new goals.

Now that May is here, many of us are getting fully back to our outdoor routines.

It is easy to expect our bodies to pick up exactly where we left off at the end of last season. But jumping right back into those activity levels after months off is often a recipe for an injury. Even if you feel great during your first few outings, the cumulative stress of repetitive motion, like running or sports, can quickly stir up aches and pains.

This is especially true as we age, because our ability to move undergoes natural changes over time. Without proper planning, a sudden increase in intensity can lead to avoidable injuries that might sideline you for the rest of the summer.

If you're ready to get back into the activities that keep you moving, reach out to our office today. Our experienced physical therapists can see where you're at, listen to what your goals are, and build a program that is tailored to fit your needs.

Physical therapists are movement experts. We look at more than your Parkinson's diagnosis. We look at how your whole body moves so you can maintain your mobility, safety, and confidence each day.

Here are five key ways we can help you make a difference:

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵: We use targeted resistance training to combat muscle weakness and build the strength you need for daily activities.

"𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗶𝗴" 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: PD often makes movements smaller and slower. We use specialized programs like LSVT BIG to retrain your body for bigger, more intentional movements.

𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗵𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗺: PD can disrupt rhythmic motions like walking and arm swinging. We use ellipticals, bikes, or Tai Chi to help you find your natural rhythm again.

𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: To counteract PD's effect on your balance, we use stability challenges (like practicing on uneven surfaces) to keep you steady and prevent falls.

𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: To fight common muscle rigidity, we guide you through focused stretching of the hips, hamstrings, and calves to reduce pain and maintain flexibility.

If you're ready to keep moving with confidence, give us a call today!
