Remembering September 11, 2001 🇺🇸

This morning, residents and team members of the Salemtowne community gathered in front of the Community Center to pause, reflect, and remember the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

We remembered the lives lost and the families forever changed, while also reflecting on the courage, compassion, and resilience that emerged in the days that followed.

Today, Salemtowne pauses to remember, honor, and reflect. We will never forget.

From caring for our residents to preparing meals, maintaining our beautiful campus, creating memorable experiences, and so much more, their work makes a difference.

🦋 Our Monarch Committee is at it again! 🦋

Residents and team members gathered together to celebrate the first monarch releases of the year! It was a beautiful event filled with excitement as these special butterflies took flight.

This year’s first releases were made in honor of three wonderful team members: Sydney, Cary, and Crystal. 💛

What a beautiful way to celebrate our Salemtowne community and send a little bit of joy into the world. 🦋🌿✨

🌼 Dancing for Dolly! 💃🎶

Our Beginner Line Dance class recently honored the life and legacy of the one and only Dolly Parton with a special class celebrating her music.

Residents wore yellow roses, Dolly’s favorite flower, and some even dressed in their best Dolly-inspired country style as they danced along to five Dolly favorites: "Yellow Roses," "Jolene," "9 to 5," "Rockin’ Years," and "Two Doors Down."

There was plenty of music, movement, and, of course, a whole lot of Dolly spirit! 💛

We think Dolly would be proud. 🌼✨

This week, we were honored to welcome friends Linda Scales Dark and her husband, Arthur, to Salemtowne.

Linda shared her 2023 book, "William Samuel Scales: African American Businessman in a Segregated Town," offering a personal perspective on her family’s history, the community, and the lived experiences of African Americans in Winston-Salem during segregation.

Her presentation was a meaningful reminder of the importance of preserving local history and listening to the stories that have shaped our community.

Thank you, Linda and Arthur, for sharing your family’s story with us. Learning, connection, and community are at the heart of what makes Salemtowne a special place to live. 📚

🕺🎶 Sock Hop Fun at Babcock! 🎶🕺

Babcock Health Care Center was transformed into an old-fashioned Sock Hop, complete with music, dancing, plenty of smiles, and even a special appearance from Elvis! 🎸😎

Our residents had a rockin’ good time stepping back in time and enjoying an afternoon filled with fun and laughter. ❤️

From delicious treats to good conversation and plenty of smiles, it was a special afternoon filled with friendship and celebration. 💙

🤠 Yeehaw! It was a community hoedown at Salemtowne!

Residents and team members came together for a fun-filled celebration featuring a delicious Western-inspired feast, line dancing, games, and plenty of community spirit. From good food to good times, there were lots of smiles, laughter, and even a few impressive dance moves along the way! 💃🕺

We sure know how to have a good time at Salemtowne! ❤️
