Introducing the NuMe A–Z of Wellbeing! 🌿

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing simple, practical habits to help support your health and wellbeing, one letter at a time, alongside my regular Wedding Wellness Wednesday and Food Friday posts.

As we talked about movement and activity yesterday, today we’re starting with B is for Balance.

And no… I don’t mean standing on one leg! 🤭 (Although that’s a great way to work on your balance!)

I’m talking about balancing life.

For many of us, we’re juggling work, children, ageing parents, relationships, living with a long-term health condition, friends… and somewhere in the middle of all that, trying to find a little time for ourselves.

Balance doesn’t mean giving everything equal attention all the time. That’s simply not realistic.

It means recognising when one area of your life has taken over and gently making space for the things that help you stay healthy, happy and resilient.

💚 What does balance look like for you this week? If standing on one leg makes you smile too… that’s good for your wellbeing too! 😄

📍 Where to find me over the next couple of months…

One of the questions I’m often asked is “Where are you based?” or “Where can I see you?”

So, I thought I’d put together a simple guide to where you’ll find me throughout July & August – whether that’s in clinic, at community events, or supporting people with their health and wellbeing.

If you’re looking for personalised health coaching, workplace wellbeing support, or simply want to have a chat about how I can help, I’d love to hear from you.

I hope to see some of you over the coming weeks!

Good morning & a happy Sunday,

A quiet moment with a cup of hot water, breakfast in the fresh air and a little time to pause before the day begins.

Self-care doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming. Often, it’s the small, everyday choices that help us feel our best.

As we head into a new week, why not try one simple act of self-care each day?

🚶 Monday: Move, go for a walk, stretch, or do 10 minutes of movement.
💧 Tuesday: Hydrate, especially in this heat we have been having. Aim to drink enough water throughout the day.
🥗 Wednesday: Nourish, try adding an extra portion of vegetables or fruit to your meals.
😴 Thursday: Rest, switch off screens earlier and prioritise sleep.
😊 Friday: Connect, spend time with someone who lifts you up.
🌸 Saturday: Slow down, make time to pause and recharge.
❤️ Sunday: Reflect and celebrate what went well this week and choose one intention for the week ahead.

After my breakfast Fido and I are off for a walk with my daughter and grandson, a lovely way to start the day.

What’s one small thing you’ll do for yourself this week?

As promised, here’s today’s recipe!

I have to say… this was so easy to make and absolutely delicious. 😋

I served mine with wholegrain couscous, which made it a really filling meal, and the feta added a lovely creamy flavour that complemented the roasted vegetables perfectly.

It’s packed with colourful vegetables, chickpeas for plant protein and fibre, healthy fats from extra virgin olive oil, and fresh herbs and lemon for plenty of flavour. A simple meal inspired by the Mediterranean way of eating.

This is definitely one I’ll be making again!

Ingredients
🥒 1 courgette, diced
🫑 1 red pepper, chopped
🍅 150g cherry tomatoes, halved
🧅 ½ red onion, sliced
🧄 2 cloves garlic, crushed
🫘 1 x 400g tin chickpeas, drained
🥬 2 large handfuls spinach
🫒 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
🌿 1 tsp smoked paprika
🌿 ½ tsp ground cumin
🍋 Juice of ½ lemon
🌱 Fresh parsley or basil
🧀 40g feta (optional)

Method
1️⃣ Roast the courgette, pepper, tomatoes and onion with the olive oil at 200°C for around 25 minutes.
2️⃣ Add the garlic, chickpeas, paprika and cumin for the final 10 minutes.
3️⃣ Stir through the spinach until wilted.
4️⃣ Finish with the lemon juice, fresh herbs and crumbled feta.
5️⃣ Serve with wholegrain couscous, quinoa or brown rice.

If you give it a try, I’d love to know what you think!

It ‘s. Food Friday. Today we ask can the foods we eat help support people living with a long-term health condition?

There isn’t a single food that can cure a chronic condition.

But what we eat every day can help support our overall health, energy levels and immune system, and for some people, an eating pattern rich in anti-inflammatory foods may help reduce inflammation and improve how they feel.

So what does that look like?

🥦 Colourful vegetables are packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that help protect our cells.
🫐 Berries and other fruits are rich in compounds called polyphenols, which may help reduce inflammation.
🐟 Oily fish (such as salmon, sardines and mackerel), a great source of omega-3 fats, which have anti-inflammatory properties.
🥜 Nuts and seeds especially walnuts, almonds, chia and flaxseeds, providing healthy fats, fibre and minerals.
🫘 Beans, lentils and chickpeas high in fibre and plant protein, helping to support gut health and keep us fuller for longer.
🌾 Wholegrains such as oats, brown rice and quinoa, which provide slow-release energy and fibre.
🫒 Extra virgin olive oil, a key part of the Mediterranean diet and naturally rich in beneficial plant compounds.
🌿 Herbs and spices including turmeric, ginger, garlic, cinnamon and rosemary, which add flavour and contain natural plant chemicals linked with anti-inflammatory effects.

✨ During July in the UK, it’s a great time to enjoy seasonal produce such as:
🍓 Strawberries
🫐 Blueberries
🍒 Cherries
🥬 Spinach
🥦 Broccoli
🥕 Carrots
🌱 Peas
🥬 Courgettes
🍅 Tomatoes
🥗 Mixed salad leaves

The aim isn’t to eat perfectly or follow a strict diet.

It’s about filling your plate with a variety of colourful, nourishing foods most of the time and making changes that you can enjoy and sustain.

This week’s recipe uses many of these ingredients to create a simple, colourful meal that’s packed with flavour and goodness.

Later today I’ll be making a colourful Mediterranean Chickpea Bowl packed with seasonal vegetables, herbs and plant protein. I’ll share the recipe and finished dish later.

A diagnosis doesn’t mean your wellbeing journey ends.

Living with a long-term health condition can be unpredictable. Some days you may feel able to take on the world, while other days simply getting out of bed can feel like an achievement.

I’ve learnt, both personally and professionally, that wellbeing isn’t about striving for perfection. It’s about finding what works for you.

That might mean:
🌿 Gentle movement instead of intense exercise.
😴 Prioritising restful sleep whenever possible.
🧘 Finding ways to manage stress before it becomes overwhelming.
⏸️ Listening to your body and allowing yourself to rest without guilt.
💚 Nourishing yourself with habits that support your health rather than trying to do everything at once.

Small, consistent changes can make a meaningful difference to how you feel and how you live.

As someone who also lives with a rare long-term health condition, I know there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. Every person, every diagnosis and every journey is different.

As a health and wellbeing coach, I work alongside people to help them build realistic, sustainable habits that fit around their health, lifestyle and goals, supporting them to live as well as possible, one step at a time.

✨ Living with a long-term condition doesn’t mean giving up on your wellbeing. Sometimes it simply means taking a different path.

💍 Planning a wedding while living with a long-term health condition can bring a unique set of challenges.

Whether you’re managing diabetes, endometriosis, PCOS, fibromyalgia, arthritis, an autoimmune condition or another long-term illness, you’re often balancing much more than guest lists and table plans.

You might be wondering…

✨ Will I have enough energy for the day?
✨ How can I reduce the chance of a flare-up?
✨ What if stress makes my symptoms worse?
✨ How do I fit in appointments, treatments or medication alongside wedding planning?
✨ Will people understand if I need to slow down?

These are real concerns, and they deserve to be acknowledged.

As someone who also lives with a rare long-term health condition, I understand that planning a wedding can involve so much more than choosing flowers and a venue. I know first hand how important it is to feel supported, listened to and able to adapt plans around your health.

That’s why my Bridal Wellness Programme looks beyond the wedding checklist. Together, we focus on supporting your wellbeing through realistic strategies tailored to you, including nutrition, stress management, sleep, movement and energy management, so you can feel as well as possible as you approach your big day.

Your wedding day should be about making memories, not worrying about whether you’ll have the energy to enjoy them.

💚 If you’re planning your wedding while living with a long-term health condition and would like some extra support, I’d love to chat.

Small habits really do make a difference.

Not every long-term health condition can be prevented. Genetics, age and other factors all play a part. However in many conditions including high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and heart disease, our everyday habits can help reduce the risk and support better long-term health.

In other chronic disease by changing some of our daily habits it may reduce some symptoms, and inflammation in our bodies.

The important thing is this…

You don’t have to change everything overnight.

Small, consistent changes often have the greatest impact. We get into a mindset that we must change all at once, usually a Monday, then become overwhelmed. It is better to change one small habit at a time.

That might be:
🥗 Adding more vegetables to your meals.
🚶 Going for a daily walk,.
💧 Drinking a little more water.
😴 Prioritising sleep.
🧘 Finding ways to manage stress.
🚭 Reducing or stopping smoking.
🍷 Cutting back on alcohol where needed.

Progress isn’t about being perfect. It’s about making choices that you can realistically maintain over time.

As a health and wellbeing coach, I help people make those changes in a way that fits their life, their health and their goals. Together we look at what matters most to you and create a plan that’s practical, achievable and sustainable.

Whether you’re hoping to reduce your risk of future health problems, improve your energy, or simply feel healthier day to day, I’d be happy to support you.

If you’d like to find out more about health coaching, or you’re ready to take the first step, feel free to send me a message.

Living with a long term health condition is about so much more than symptoms.

This week, leading up to Chronic Disease Awareness Day on Thursday, I’ll be sharing practical ways to support wellbeing, whether you’re living with a long-term condition or looking to reduce your risk of developing one.

As a health and wellbeing coach, and someone who lives with a rare long-term health condition myself. I understand that the challenges often go far beyond pain or physical symptoms.

Living with a chronic condition can affect:
✨ Energy levels
✨ Sleep
✨ Confidence
✨ Mental wellbeing
✨ Work
✨ Socialising and relationships

Sometimes it’s not the condition itself that’s hardest,it’s missing out on plans, cancelling at the last minute, or feeling like people don’t always understand.

The good news is that while we can’t always change a diagnosis, we can often find ways to support our overall wellbeing through realistic lifestyle habits, helping us feel the best we can.

This week I’ll be sharing simple, evidence-based tips on movement, stress management, nutrition, prevention where possible, and even some advice for brides living with long-term conditions.

💙 If you or someone you care about is living with a long-term condition, I hope you’ll find something helpful this week.
