Your shoulders were designed to move. Give them a reminder.

Shoulder pass-throughs or “dislocates” are one of my favourite little movement snacks — simple, quick, and easy to slot into the day.

Start with a wide grip and move slowly through a comfortable range. As your shoulders loosen up, bring the hands closer together.

No forcing. No need to turn it into a workout. Just a little movement, often.

Try 5–10 slow reps next time you’ve been sitting for a while.

Save this one for later.

Two young kids. A business. Not a lot of spare time.

So when I train, I want it to count.

Rather than throwing random “running exercises” into my week, I know the specific areas I need to work on — and I have a plan built around them.

That’s the idea behind the Aevora Running Assessment.

We assess your running-specific strength, capacity and asymmetries, identify where your biggest opportunities are, then turn that data into a targeted plan.

Because when time is limited, more training isn’t necessarily better. Better-targeted training is.

Want to know where your time is best spent?

The Sitting-Rising Test.

Araújo et al., European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, 2025 — 4,282 adults aged 46–75, median 12-year follow-up. Higher scores were associated with lower mortality.

That’s an association, not proof that raising your score extends your life — nobody has tested that yet.

What we do know is what the score is made of: strength, balance, flexibility and body composition. All four respond to training.

It’s a supervised screen, not a self-test.

Your shoulder blade should glide—not feel glued to your rib cage.

This drill builds controlled, independent movement between the shoulder blade and rib cage.

Slow, deliberate and surprisingly challenging.

Most people get 5 numbers a year from a GP blood panel. I built something that utilises 30 to ultimately score your “functional age”.
The Aevora Longevity Project takes a decade of longevity research and turns it into one score - physical, neurological and physiological testing, all within allied health - so you know exactly where you’re excelling, and where you’re not.
Information isn’t the hard part. Knowing what to actually act on is. That’s what this project holds you accountable to — not everything, just what’s realistic for your life right now.

You can learn your cholesterol in five minutes. But can you tell me how much strength, power or balance you’ve lost in the last decade?

Almost no one can — because the standard check-up doesn’t measure the things that actually predict how strong, mobile and independent you’ll be in 20 years. So the decline stays invisible until it’s already cost you something.

That’s what the Aevora Longevity Project measures.

A focused healthspan assessment across the markers that genuinely track with long-term function and resilience — strength, power, balance, cardiovascular capacity and body composition — with your results compared, where appropriate, against age- and sex-matched reference data.

Not a generic wellness score. Objective numbers, benchmarked against people your age, and one clear priority to work on next.

The best time to get a baseline is before you need it. The second best is now.

Most people don’t need a complicated mobility routine.

They need more exposure to the positions they’ve stopped using.

Dead hangs can help with:

✅ Grip strength
✅ Shoulder overhead tolerance
✅ Lat and thoracic mobility
✅ A simple “anti-sitting” movement snack

Start supported. Keep it pain-free. Build slowly.

Goal: accumulate 1–3 minutes/day before chasing long holds.

Movement Snack 🥢 The Deep Squat
Most of us spend the day in chairs and lose the one position our bodies are built for. The deep squat isn’t just a gym move — it’s a resting position humans are designed to hold.
Sit into it daily and you’ll work on:
🔹 Ankle & hip mobility
🔹 Knee resilience through full range
🔹 Pelvic floor & lower back support
🔹 Better posture once you stand back up
A few minutes a day is all it takes. Can you hold a flat-foot squat for 60 seconds? Give it a go and let me know how you feel 👇

Most people don’t need a better chair.

They need more movement.

A 30-second movement snack can be enough to break up prolonged sitting and help you feel better, move better, and work better.

The best posture is usually the next one.

137 studies. 30,000 people. One uncomfortable conclusion.

The ACSM just released the most comprehensive resistance training guidelines ever written — 17 years in the making — and the findings are both simpler and more significant than most people expect.
Resistance training reduces all-cause mortality by 17%. Power declines faster than strength as you age, and it’s what determines whether you catch a stumble or become one. The single biggest finding? The gap between doing nothing and doing something is far larger than the gap between any two training approaches.

The fitness industry has spent years overcomplicating this. The science hasn’t.

At Aevora, this is the foundation of what we do — not treating symptoms, but building physical capacity that holds up over decades. If you want to understand where your resilience actually sits, that’s exactly the kind of work we’re here for.
