If the clinic day is running smoothly, there is a good chance Carmen and Ayaka have had something to do with it.

Many of you may have already met Carmen at Eastern Plastic Surgery; today, we are also pleased to introduce Ayaka. Both are part of our nursing team and work closely with the rest of the EPS team throughout the day.

Their work includes preparing rooms, assisting with appointments, supporting patient care, and managing the many details that ensure the clinic runs efficiently.

Much of their work happens behind the scenes, yet it plays a crucial role in the clinic’s day-to-day operations. We are pleased to have Carmen and Ayaka as part of the EPS / EST nursing team.

As winter approaches, skin often begins to need richer barrier support.

Cooler weather, indoor heating, lower humidity, and seasonal changes in routine can leave the skin feeling drier, rougher, or less balanced than usual. This is a good time to shift the focus from lightweight summer formulas to moisturisers that support hydration, lipid replenishment, and the skin’s natural moisture barrier.

SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2 is a lipid-replenishing moisturiser formulated to support dry or ageing skin.

With an optimised lipid ratio of 2% pure ceramides, 4% natural cholesterol, and 2% fatty acids, it helps replenish essential skin lipids, support the external moisture barrier, and improve the visible appearance of skin texture and overall skin quality.

It can be incorporated into a personalised winter skincare routine, particularly for skin that is starting to feel dry, rough, or in need of additional moisture support.

Speak with our team to find out whether Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2 is suitable for your skin.

Upper Blepharoplasty | Double Eyelid Surgery
Female patient
Photographs shown: before and after surgery

Upper blepharoplasty can be performed to adjust the appearance of the upper eyelid crease and address the way the upper eyelid skin sits above the eye.

In this case, Dr Frank Lin performed surgery on both upper eyelids. Planning considered the patient’s existing eyelid fold, skin quality, soft tissue characteristics, and balance between the two eyes.

Rather than using a standardised approach, the procedure was planned according to the patient’s eyelid anatomy and the surgical changes considered appropriate for her case.

Procedure details:
• Procedure: Upper Blepharoplasty
• Area treated: Upper eyelids
• Anaesthesia: Local anaesthetic with sedation or general anaesthetic, depending on the case
• Surgery time: Approximately 1–2 hours
• Initial review: Usually within the first week after surgery
• Recovery: Swelling and bruising may occur and typically subside over the following weeks.

Augmentation Mammoplasty | Breast Augmentation
Female patient
Photographs shown: before surgery and 6 months post-surgery

Augmentation mammoplasty, also known as breast augmentation, is a surgical procedure that involves placing breast implants to alter breast volume and proportion.

For this patient, the procedure was planned after assessing her existing breast anatomy, chest wall structure, skin quality, breast position, and overall proportions.

At 6 months post-surgery, the images show the patient’s progress at this stage of healing. Surgical outcomes continue to vary between individuals, and recovery can differ depending on anatomy, implant selection, surgical technique, and the healing process.

Procedure details:
• Procedure: Augmentation Mammoplasty
• Common name: Breast Augmentation
• Area treated: Breasts
• Anaesthesia: General anaesthetic
• Surgery time: Approximately 1–2 hours, depending on the case
• Review: Follow-up appointments are scheduled as part of post-operative care
• Recovery: Swelling, bruising, and changes in breast position may occur and gradually settle over time

The Ultherapy PRIME Visualisation Roadshow marked the launch of the Ultherapy PRIME Ultrasound Visualisation Toolkit, bringing clinicians together for an evening focused on education, anatomy, and real-time ultrasound imaging.

The Toolkit was the result of collaboration with Dr Fernanda Cavalleiri (.dermo) and a number of APAC experts including Dr Frank Lin and Stephen Lowe. Dr Frank Lin was invited as the key speaker, sharing his clinical experience with Ultherapy PRIME and discussing the role of visualisation in understanding treatment layers, facial anatomy, and treatment planning.

He was also joined on stage by Nina from the EST Clinic team for the Q&A session.

As an aesthetic nurse and Ultherapy PRIME trainer, Nina brought a practical perspective to the discussion, sharing her experience with the technology and how visualisation can support clinical assessment and day-to-day treatment planning.

It was a valuable evening of education and shared learning regarding the continued development of ultrasound visualisation in non-surgical aesthetic medicine.

Thank you to for bringing the roadshow together.

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month

In Australia, skin cancer is something many of us are familiar with, yet it can be easy to delay a skin check or overlook a minor change.

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, with around 2 in 3 Australians diagnosed with some form of skin cancer during their lifetime.

Skin Cancer Awareness Month serves as a timely reminder to pay close attention to your skin, particularly any spot, mole, or lesion that is new, changing, bleeding, not healing, or appears different from others.

At Eastern Plastic Surgery, we see patients who require surgical care following a skin cancer diagnosis, including removal and reconstruction when needed. Every case is different, and treatment planning depends on the type of skin cancer, its location, and the individual patient.

This May, take a moment to check your skin, stay mindful of UV exposure, and speak with your GP, dermatologist, or skin cancer clinic if you notice anything unusual.
