Some people expect healthcare practitioners to be serious all the time.

We’re serious about your care. We’re just not serious all the time.

Behind every acupuncture treatment is a degree-qualified clinician who has spent years studying Chinese medicine, continues to invest in ongoing education, and cares deeply about the people who trust us with their health.

Behind the scenes...you’ll also find delightful jokes, spontaneous photo shoot handstands, divine dance moves and plenty of laughter.

Our practitioners are highly skilled, and beautifully human.

If you’re looking for acupuncture for fertility, pregnancy, women’s health or general wellbeing, you’ll find experienced practitioners here who love what they do and make you feel cocooned in a sanctuary of care from the moment you walk through the door.

Share some love for these fabulous humans.

Do fish oil supplements really make a difference when you’re trying to conceive?

Fish oils provide the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, which play important roles in both egg and s***m health. They support egg maturation, ovulation, s***m motility, morphology and protection against oxidative stress.

That doesn’t mean everyone should rush out and buy the biggest bottle they can find.

The right fish oil, the right dose, and whether you need one at all depends on your diet, medical history, medications, fertility goals and the rest of your treatment plan.

If you’re trying to conceive, don’t underestimate the role nutrition can play in supporting both partners.

Save this for future reference, or share it with someone who might find it helpful. Thanks to Georgia Marrion | Fertility Naturopath & Nutritionist for this post, fertility and pregnancy nutritionist and naturopath at Fertile Ground Health Group

Pregnancy asks a lot of your body.

As your body changes, so do your needs. That’s why many people choose acupuncture as part of their pregnancy care, whether they’re looking for support with the physical changes of pregnancy, preparing for birth, or simply taking an hour to slow down and be looked after.

At Fertile Ground Health Group, our experienced practitioners tailor every treatment to the stage of your pregnancy and your individual needs.

This is Chinese medicine practitioner, Tara Hanaphy, during a pregnancy acupuncture treatment. Every point is selected with purpose, every treatment is individualised, and your comfort is always the priority.

When people think about iron, they often think about energy.

In fertility care, it’s one of many pathology markers we may assess as part of building an individual’s fertility picture.

As Georgia explains in this carousel, iron parameters are one of a range of assessments that may be recommended during fertility naturopathic care. Both suboptimal, deficient and excessive iron levels can influence important processes involved in fertility, which is why it’s something we consider as part of a broader assessment.

Swipe through to learn why iron is one of the many pathology markers we look at when supporting people on their fertility journey.

Have you had your iron levels checked as part of your fertility work-up?

“Can I lie on my belly during a pregnancy massage?”

At Fertile Ground Health Group, we can often make that possible with our specialised pregnancy belly mats.

This video shows Reina, one of our experienced massage practitioners, setting up the mat so you can see exactly how it works. Your growing belly rests in a suspended space with no direct pressure on your bump, while your breasts are supported too.

Some people love lying face down, especially if they haven’t been able to for months. Others prefer side-lying throughout their massage. Your practitioner will talk through both options with you and tailor your treatment to what feels best for your body on the day.

Reina has extensive experience supporting people through fertility, pregnancy and postpartum. She holds qualifications in remedial massage, pregnancy massage, fertility massage, Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies, and is also a qualified yoga instructor, bringing a thoughtful, whole-body approach to every treatment.

If you’d like to use the pregnancy belly mat during your massage, simply let your practitioner know. We’re always happy to tailor your treatment to what feels most comfortable for you.

As we move into the colder months, many pregnant women find themselves wondering what they can do to support their immune system safely.

It’s an understandable question. Pregnancy asks a lot of the body, and at the same time many of us are navigating work, family life, disrupted sleep, childcare bugs, winter viruses and the general demands of everyday life.

One of the most important things to understand is that immune health is rarely about finding the one right supplement or remedy.

Our immune systems are influenced by many different factors including nutrition, sleep, stress, movement, vitamin D levels, gut health and overall wellbeing. The strongest support often comes from consistently tending to these foundations rather than searching for a quick fix.

In this post, nutritionist and naturopath, Georgia Marrion, shares some simple and practical ways to support your health through winter during pregnancy, with a focus on approaches that are both safe and nourishing.

A gentle reminder that not all supplements, herbs and over-the-counter immune products are appropriate during pregnancy. If you’re unsure, it’s always worth seeking personalised advice with one of our naturopaths before introducing something new.

Have you found yourself thinking more about immune health this winter? We’d love to hear from you below 💛

Being cared for through touch can feel deeply restorative, especially during times when the body is carrying a lot physically and emotionally.

Over the years, many people have included massage at Fertile Ground as part of their support through fertility, IVF, pregnancy, postpartum recovery and general wellbeing. For some, it becomes the one appointment in the week where they can stop bracing for a moment, breathe more deeply, and feel properly looked after.

This image features some of our brilliant and highly skilled massage practitioners here in Fitzroy, Melbourne, supporting people through many different stages of health and life.

If you’ve ever had a massage with one of these wonderful women, feel free to share them some love below 🤍

Long before fertility conversations became more visible online, Fertile Ground practitioners were already deeply immersed in this work, supporting people through fertility, IVF and preconception care while also contributing to education within the broader health community.

This image features some of the naturopaths behind the collaborative fertility and preconception book Create a Fertile Life, including Fertile Ground founder Charmaine Dennis.

Education has remained an important part of Fertile Ground over the years, not only within consultations, but through books, practitioner trainings, workshops and conversations that help people feel more informed, supported and connected to their fertility and reproductive health.

A conversation with Rhea Dempsey can change the way you feel about birth. 🤍

For more than 20 years, we’ve had the privilege of having Rhea as part of the Fertile Ground practitioner community.

For more than 45 years, Rhea has been supporting women, couples and families through pregnancy, birth and early parenting, attending over 1,000 births and helping thousands more prepare for one of life’s most profound transitions.

Many people know Rhea through her books Birth with Confidence and Beyond the Birth Plan. Others know her as the person who helped them make sense of a birth that didn’t unfold as expected.

Birth debriefing is some of the work Rhea cares most deeply about.

Whether you’re preparing for your first birth, hoping for a different experience this time around, carrying questions from a previous birth, or simply wanting to feel more informed and confident as your due date approaches, Rhea offers a rare combination of wisdom, warmth and real-world experience.

✨ Rhea has a small number of Zoom appointments available tomorrow (Tuesday) and one Tuesday a month with Fertile Ground.

These sessions are ideal for:
• Birth preparation
• Birth debriefing
• VBAC preparation
• Navigating fears or uncertainty
• Understanding your options and care choices
• Creating a birth plan that feels right for you and your family

No matter how you look at it, birth is a life-changing event. Having the opportunity to reflect on it, prepare for it, or make sense of it can be profoundly healing.
