Today is R U OK? Day, and it's also World Su***de Prevention Day, which makes today a good day to actually ask the question properly rather than as a greeting…. 'Are you ok?' asked while walking past someone rarely gets an honest answer. Asking it while making eye contact, with time to actually wait for the reply, is a completely different question. If someone says they're not ok, staying in the conversation matters far more than having the perfect thing to say back. If you're worried about someone today, Lifeline is on 13 11 14, and it's always ok to ask twice. ***dePreventionDay

I overheard something at a cafe recently that really stuck with me…. they said "I said no to my sister for the first time in years, and I felt sick about it for two days." Why is it that saying No makes us feel so bad?
Boundaries often dont feel clean or confident in the moment (hence why we get so uncomfotable as we wrangle and avoid the discomfort). The discomfort doesnt mean you are doing anything wrong, its just what it feels like to change a pattern that's been in place a long time.
You're allowed to say no without three paragraphs of explanation attached…and its likely that the relationship that can hold your boundary was never at risk in the first place.
If you need help with your boundaries we have Psychologists ready to support you…. its more common than people think.

Nobody wants another lecture about how exercise fixes everything. We've all heard it, we've all ignored it, moving on….
But a walk to nowhere in particular, no gym gear, no plan, just legs going somewhere, actually does something for the brain. Annoyingly, the wellness people were right about this one.
So no, still not doing burpees. But the walk to the shops counts as a win today!

Today is Father's Day and its always a precarious post...as its not always a "Happy" day. If you ask ten different people what it means for them… you will likely get ten completely different answers.

For some it's genuinely wonderful... Burnt snags… a card with a dodgy drawing.. and someone getting a mug they'll never use but will keep forever anyway.

But for others it can feel much more complicated.... Maybe it's the first Father's Day without their dad. Maybe it's a relationship that never worked. Maybe it's still hoping to become a dad one day. Maybe it's raising kids after a rough separation.

None of that needs to be hidden behind a smile just because it's a Sunday everyone else seems to be celebrating… your feelings are yours to feel… whatever today brings up for you.

If you are finding it's a genuinely hard one.. Lifeline is there to talk any time on 13 11 14. 💛

We can't always control our environment…. but we can control how we respond to it… Credit to .reel for the great clip.

So we have all been here before…. you scroll your social feed before bed... a friend's promotion, another person's renovation, a stranger's "day in the life" that looks effortless and sorted. By the time the phone goes down, you feel like you have fallen behind in a race nobody actually signed you up for!
Here's the thing about social media... it's a highlight reel, not a record. Nobody posts the argument before the photo, the failed drafts before the caption, or the years of unseen effort behind the "overnight" success. You're comparing your whole, complicated life to someone else's edited five seconds…. We all need this reminder…
