A new chapter in robotic gynecological surgery closer to home 🤖. I’m very excited to now be performing robotic surgery at Kareena Private Hospital following the arrival of their new Da Vinci robotic surgical system!

I’ve been performing robotic surgery at ST George Private for some time, and having access to a robotic platform at Kareena means I can now offer this approach to patients closer to home in the Sutherland Shire. Robotic surgery is an extension of minimally invasive surgery, giving surgeons enhanced visualization, dexterity and precision for a range of complex gynecological procedure including hysterectomy, myomectomy and severe endometriosis.

I’m looking forward to working alongside the experienced Kareena theatre team as we incorporate robotic surgery into the gynecological service already delivered here. I’m always excited to see new technology arrive, but ultimately it’s the combination of the right procedure for the right patient, an experienced surgical team and good surgical judgment that matters the most.

When was the last time a healthcare professional asked you about your s*xual wellbeing? It’s a conversation many women want to have but too often no one asks. One of my biggest take home messages from the AGES/UGSA Pelvic Floor Meeting was the importance of asking women what matters most to them, rather than assuming we already know the answer. I had the opportunity to sit down with women’s health physiotherapist Tamara Woods, who I regularly work alongside in caring for women with complex pelvic floor conditions, endometriosis and pelvic pain. Our discussion centered around one of the conference’s most powerful messages form a s*x therapist : “ Stigma is where shame meets silence “. That quote really stayed with both of us . As healthcare professionals, we have the opportunity to reduce silence by creating safe spaces where women feel comfortable talking about s*xual health and symptoms that matter most to them. Working together across specialties allows us to better understand each woman’s goals and provide more holistic, patient- centered care. *xualhealth

The best way to kick off the AGES/UGSA combined Pelvic Floor Meeting with a fully day hands-on multi-platform robotic workshop at IMRA Melbourne. It was a privilege to join an outstanding faculty and work with a fully subscribed groups of surgeries form across Australia and New Zealand. Together, we explored the latest robotic platforms while refunding surgical skills through high fidelity simulation and hands-on coaching. One of the most rewarding parts of being involved in surgical education is seeing surgeons build confidence, share ideas and continue striving for excellence. Investing in training today helps shape safer surgery and better outcomes for women. A huge thank you to AGES, UGSA, my fellow faculty and all the delegates and industry partners for an engaging and collaborative day.

A week in Melbourne focused on leadership, education and collaboration. I’m at the AGES/UGSA combined Pelvic Floor Meeting this week and looking forward to facilitating the robotic surgery workshop, sharing skills and contributing to the education of the next generation of surgeons. Conferences are about more than scientific sessions, they’re an opportunity to learn form one another and continually improve the care we provide to women. Looking forward to sharing highlights from the week.

One of the greatest privileges of obstetrics is not just helping bring babies into the world, it’s having the opportunity to watch families grow.

The second photo was taken three years ago when two excited siblings came to hospital to meet their newborn baby sister for the very first time.

Fast forward to today, and that same little girl is now a proud big sister herself, standing alongside her brothers and sister as they welcome the newest member of their family.

Having the privilege of caring for this family through the births of all four children has been incredibly special. While each birth is memorable, seeing families return year after year and watching children grow is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

Moments like these are a reminder that obstetrics is about so much more than a single pregnancy or birth. It’s about relationships, trust, and sharing in some of life’s most important milestones.

Some moments in obstetrics never lose their magic😍

One of the greatest privileges of my job is helping families welcome their baby into the world and sharing in those first unforgettable moments together.

With a little guidance and encouragement, Dad was able to help bring his baby into the world himself, a moment I know this family will treasure forever.

These photos capture the joy, anticipation, teamwork and overwhelming love that fill a birth suite when a baby finally arrives👶.

I never take for granted the trust families place in me to guide them through one of the most important days of their lives. It is truly an honour to be part of these moments.

What an inspiring few days in Vancouver 🇨🇦 for the 54th Global Congress on Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery .

A momentous career milestone was being awarded the Barbara S. Levy AchieveHER Award 🏆. I’m truly humbled to be recognised among such dedicated and capable women who are leading, mentoring and pushing our specialty forward.

It was also special attending with the board and my fellow, Dr Sireen Jaber , who was an invited guest speaker. We made the most of our time in Vancouver, exploring downtown, wandering through Gastown and discovering the famous waffles at Café Medina! 😋

Feeling grateful, energised and excited for the future of AI in medicine.

Still buzzing from an incredible few days at the AGES Perioperative Surgical Meeting, where I had the honour of being Chair of the meeting! It was an absolutely packed program with oversubscribed workshops including robotics, pain management, day stay hysterectomy, and more. I was thrilled to be on faculty for the robotics workshop. It’s always a privilege to teach and learn alongside such talented colleagues.

We heard from brilliant international speakers, shared knowledge, and had inspiring conversations about the importance of teams and leading with “ferocious warmth”. I loved reconnecting with friends and colleagues, sharing ideas and celebrating the strength of our surgical community. A personal highlight was winning Best Surgical Video Presentation for a robotic hysterectomy for a large fibroid, highlighting intricate pelvic anatomy 🎥🤖.

Proud to have played a big part in such a successful and energising event. The future of surgery is bold, collaborative, and compassionate.

Live from the LapD Anatomy Dissection Course for AGES - thrilled to be here as faculty, guiding fellow surgeons through the intricate and essential world of gynecological anatomy! 🫀🔍

Teaching anatomy isn’t just about naming structures - it’s about empowering gynecologists with the depth of knowledge needed for precision, confidence and ultimately safer care for women. Every nerve, vessel and layer matters when it comes to surgical excellence.

The more we know, the better we operate. The better we operate, the safer our patients are.
Grateful to be part of a course that prioritises hands-on learning, shared expertise and anatomical mastery. Let’s keep raising the bar for women’s health together! 💪👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

Another excellent AGES Focus Meeting last weekend and this time in the picturesque city of Hobart. It was a full weekend of inspiring presentations, board meetings and discussing essential areas of gynecology. I thoroughly enjoyed delivering a presentation on Robotic Myomectomy. We also celebrated our talented SMIGS fellow, Dr Sireen Jaber who passed her final AGES exams. Congratulations to you Sireen! You’re a hardworking, conscientious and skilled doctor and we are lucky to have you working with us! 🫶 🎉
