Are probiotics worth it? ๐ค
It's one of the most common questions our Dietitian Maddi hears from patients, so we asked her to break it down.
Her take: a general probiotic is a bit like a multivitamin. Not harmful, maybe a small benefit, but rarely the targeted fix people are hoping for.
Probiotic effects are strain-specific, not broad โ the right strain can genuinely help with things like antibiotic-associated diarrhoea, certain IBS symptoms, or stress-related gut symptoms. But a random blend off the shelf won't reliably shift your gut health long-term.
For most people, it's the foundations that make the biggest difference: fibre diversity, prebiotic foods, fermented foods, and consistent nutrition patterns.
