Are probiotics worth it? ๐Ÿค”

It's one of the most common questions our Dietitian Maddi hears from patients, so we asked her to break it down.

Her take: a general probiotic is a bit like a multivitamin. Not harmful, maybe a small benefit, but rarely the targeted fix people are hoping for.

Probiotic effects are strain-specific, not broad โ€” the right strain can genuinely help with things like antibiotic-associated diarrhoea, certain IBS symptoms, or stress-related gut symptoms. But a random blend off the shelf won't reliably shift your gut health long-term.

For most people, it's the foundations that make the biggest difference: fibre diversity, prebiotic foods, fermented foods, and consistent nutrition patterns.

A huge congratulations to our Pelvic Health Physiotherapist Agner, who ran the 2026 Sydney Marathon last weekend โ€” her second marathon and a new PB, despite a genuinely tough course!

The 2026 Sydney Marathon was the biggest marathon Australia has ever seen, with over 40,000 participants. Agner's highlight? Running across the Harbour Bridge, what an epic way to spend race day.

We love celebrating our team's wins, on and off the clinic floor. Congratulations, Agner! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ

I recently chatted with Danielle Lewis on the SPARK TV podcast about building FitRight โ€” the wins, the lessons, and what I'd tell any woman starting her own business.

We talked about scaling exercise classes, the partnership that changed everything, and staying grounded when things get hard. If you're building something of your own, I think you'll get a lot out of it.

Vaginal pessaries have a bit of a PR problem and Iโ€™m here to change that ๐Ÿ“ข๐Ÿฅณ

For a long time, pessaries have been thought of as a last resort, or something only for elderly women who can't have surgery. In the final episode of season 1 of The Pelvic Puzzle Podcast, I sat down with my colleague and FitRight Clinical Lead Jess Vanson to set the record straight.

We talked about why pessaries get such a bad rap, and unpacked some of the misconceptions that keep women from even considering them:
๐Ÿ’œ They're not just for older women โ€” I've fitted pessaries for mums wanting to get back to running, and women managing symptoms as they take on grandparent duties, and everyone in between
๐Ÿ’œ "Insert and forget for months" isn't the full picture โ€” self-managed vs non-managed pessaries work very differently
๐Ÿ’œ They're not risk-free, but the risks are generally low when compared to surgery, and when we co-manage with a GP or gynaecologist

If a pessary has crossed your mind but the reputation has put you off, this episode might change how you see them.

A smaller space. Your own pace. People who actually get it.

That's what our exercise classes are about โ€” not 30-person classes that move too fast to follow, not feeling like everyone else already knows what they're doing, not walking in without a single familiar face.

We know how easy it is for exercise to feel impossible instead of good for you. So we built something different. There's a place for you here ๐Ÿ’œ

Classes start this week, in groups of 3, 5 or 10 women โ€” it's not too late to book in. Check out our exercise classes here: https://fitrightwomenshealth.au/exercise-classes/
