Avive Health Treating mental health is complex. It’s also deeply personal. We embrace the challenge to improve the health and wellbeing of Australians and their families.

It drives us forward, every day. Rest assured, you’re in safe hands.

The doors are now open at Avive Clinic Melbourne.

Since welcoming our first patients, the response from people reaching out for support has reinforced just how important greater access to private mental health care is across Melbourne.

Located in Alphington, our new hospital has been designed to feel calm, welcoming and deeply human – a place where people can step away from the pressures of daily life and receive the specialist care they need.

Avive was founded to create the kind of mental health service our founders would feel confident choosing for their own family and friends. That thinking is reflected throughout the hospital – from its private rooms and therapeutic spaces to the people providing care.

Stage one includes 32 private mental health beds, group therapy rooms, specialist consulting suites, TMS and a fitness studio, with plans to expand to 60 beds.

In this video, we share highlights from the official opening and introduce some of the people behind Avive Clinic Melbourne.

Thank you to our team, Australian Unity, our project partners and everyone who helped bring the hospital to life – and to our founding patients for placing their trust in us.

If you or someone you care about is struggling with their mental health, our admissions team is here to listen, answer your questions and help you understand the options available.

At Avive Health, we believe meaningful change comes from working alongside like-minded organisations that share our commitment to supporting veterans and their families.

We’re proud to support Legacy Brisbane and the vital work it does for the families of Australian veterans. While our DVA-approved Military-Related Trauma Recovery Program at Avive Clinic Brisbane provides specialised, evidence-based treatment for veterans experiencing PTSD, Legacy Brisbane provides invaluable support to the families who stand beside them.

Dr Katelyn Kerr, Catherine Fitzsimmons and Ben Pocock-Walker recently joined Brisbane’s business and sporting community at the 2026 Legacy Sports Brunch – an inspiring event that raised an incredible $45,645 for veterans’ families.

Congratulations to everyone at Legacy Brisbane on another successful event. We value the opportunity to strengthen connections across our community and work towards our shared goal of ensuring those who have served – and their families – receive the care, connection and support they deserve.

A major milestone for Avive Clinic Adelaide, and an exciting step closer to opening our doors in 2027. Thank you The Advertiser for sharing the news and to everyone helping bring our new 60-bed private mental health hospital to life in the heart of Adelaide.
We’re proud to be expanding access to high-quality private mental healthcare for South Australians and look forward to sharing more as construction progresses as we move forward to open our doors and welcome patients in mid-2027.

Yesterday marked a major milestone for mental health care in South Australia, with the topping out of Avive Clinic Adelaide – bringing our new 60-bed private mental health hospital another step closer to opening in the heart of the city.

We were honoured to be joined by SA Health Minister for Health and Wellbeing, the Hon. Blair Boyer MP, and City of Adelaide South Ward Councillor Dr Mark Siebentritt to recognise what this new hospital will mean for South Australians seeking mental health support.

As Minister Boyer said: “The additional 60 private mental health beds being constructed by the Avive Clinic will ensure more South Australians have access to crucial mental health services.”

Topping out marks the building reaching its highest structural point, but for future patients and their families, this milestone means something more – greater access to care, closer to home, in an environment designed to support dignity, comfort and recovery.

When it opens in mid-2027, Avive Clinic Adelaide will provide contemporary inpatient care, day programs and specialist services, supporting people through different stages of treatment and recovery.

The Pelligra Group team has been central to bringing the hospital to life. Its focus on quality and attention to detail can be seen throughout the construction, with care being taken to create a welcoming and therapeutic environment for patients, families, clinicians and staff.

For our Avive co-founders, this milestone reflects a commitment made from the beginning – to improve access, experience and outcomes for people seeking mental healthcare and those supporting them.

Thank you to Minister Boyer, Councillor Siebentritt, Pelligra Group, our foundation doctors and everyone helping bring Avive Clinic Adelaide to life.

We look forward to welcoming our first patients in mid-2027.

When a new mental health hospital opens, its culture is shaped by the people who bring its care to life.

We’re delighted to welcome Phoebe Sra as Nurse Unit Manager at the newly opened Avive Clinic Melbourne in Alphington.

Phoebe has worked in mental health nursing since 2008, spending her career caring for people across Melbourne. She is passionate about creating a nursing culture where every patient feels heard, respected and supported from the moment they arrive.

For Phoebe, even a small role in someone’s recovery can have a lasting impact.

“People often come to us at one of the most vulnerable times in their lives. Being able to build trust and help someone feel heard and validated is incredibly meaningful. Even if you play only a small part in their recovery, knowing you made a difference makes the work worthwhile.”

Phoebe is also excited to bring together a new nursing team and work alongside Avive’s psychiatrists, allied health professionals and hospital team to provide genuinely patient-centred care.

Outside work, Phoebe loves travelling, baking intricately decorated sugar cookies and supporting Hawthorn. At home, life is kept entertaining by Audrey, her “crazy” black Labrador.

Welcome to Avive, Phoebe – we’re so pleased you’ve joined the team!

Avive Clinic Melbourne is now open and accepting inpatient admissions. If you, or someone you care about may need mental health support, don't hesitate to reach out to understand the next steps.

Celebrating National Health Information Management Week 2026 ( ) 💙

This week, we’re recognising Avive’s Health Information Management team and the important work they do across our hospitals and mental health services.

Led and supported by Sue-ellen Blomfield, our amazing team includes Kate Pattison, Felicity White, Louise Wagstaff, Lindah Young and Daryl Jones.

Since our first two hospitals – Avive Clinic Brisbane in Queensland and Avive Clinic Mornington Peninsula in Mount Eliza, Victoria – opened in December 2023, the team has supported 3,311 inpatient admissions and 3,684 day patient admissions across Avive.

Their work spans medical and electronic health record management, clinical coding, medicolegal services, privacy and confidentiality, data quality and reporting, and information governance.

With Avive Clinic Melbourne now open and Avive Clinic Adelaide under construction, the team’s expertise and strong systems are helping Avive continue to grow with confidence while maintaining the accuracy, security and integrity of our health information for patients and referrers alike.

Thank you to the entire team for the care, professionalism and expertise you bring to Avive every day – and to every Avive department that works alongside and supports our Health Information Management team. 👏

Today on Vietnam Veterans’ Day we honour the more than 60,000 Australians who served in the Vietnam War.
We remember those who lost their lives and recognise all who returned home, as well as the families who stood alongside them.
At Avive we are privileged to support members of Australia’s veteran community and their families.
Lest we forget.

A message from our Co-Founders:

Today is a very special day for Avive.

We are incredibly proud to announce the opening of Avive Clinic Melbourne in Alphington - our third Avive hospital and another significant milestone in our journey.

Every time we open the doors to a new Avive hospital, we are reminded of why we started this business in the first place: to create a different kind of mental health care. Care that combines outstanding clinicians with thoughtfully designed environments, genuine human connection and an unwavering focus on helping people get better.

Melbourne represents another important step towards that vision.

But buildings do not create great healthcare. People do. So, most importantly, we want to warmly welcome our new Melbourne team to Avive.

To everyone joining us - our doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, lived experience team, administration, hospitality and support teams, welcome to Avive. We are genuinely excited to have you with us.

You are not simply joining a new hospital. You are becoming part of a growing team across Australia that is ambitious about what mental health care can and should look like.

We also want to acknowledge everyone across Avive who has helped bring Melbourne to life. Opening a hospital takes an extraordinary amount of work, often well beyond what most people ever see. Thank you to everyone who has contributed along the way.

When we made our commitment to this site a short 6 months ago, Melbourne was a vision on a piece of paper. Today, the doors are open, the team is here, and we are ready to care for our first patients.

That is something all of us should be incredibly proud of.

To our Melbourne team - welcome to the family. We cannot wait to see what you build.

Mark, Greg and Matt
Co-Founders, Avive Health

13/08/2026

Today we officially opened Avive Clinic Melbourne in Alphington – our second private mental health hospital in Victoria and third Avive clinic nationally.

Opening with 32 beds in this first stage will increase access to specialist private mental healthcare for Melbourne’s inner north-east, while supporting people from across Victoria and beyond.

But this is about much more than 32 beds. It is about the first 32 people who will occupy them – and every patient who follows – taking the courageous step of reaching out for help and entrusting us with their care.

That trust is a privilege. Our purpose is to help people find hope again and achieve meaningful, lasting outcomes.

Thank you to Australian Unity, our consultants, design and construction teams, project partners and everyone who helped bring this hospital to life.

Our collective work has brought us to opening day. Now, we hand it over to our nursing, allied health, and clinical teams. It is their expertise, compassion and commitment that will shape the experience and outcomes of every person who comes through our doors.

To our Melbourne team – we could not be prouder of what you have already achieved or more confident in the care you will provide.

We look forward to welcoming our first patients from Monday, 17 August.

If you or someone you care about needs support, our team is here to help.
