Understanding your child with ADHD's sensory experiences is crucial when they feel overwhelmed. 🧠

Children with ADHD often encounter challenges in processing sensory information, which can amplify emotional responses. Everyday stimuli like sounds, textures, or lighting can potentially trigger significant reactions.

Here's how sensory integration can be beneficial:
βœ”οΈ Promotes a sense of calm through structured sensory input
βœ”οΈ Enhances self-awareness of emotional states
βœ”οΈ Provides coping mechanisms for managing overwhelming situations
βœ”οΈ Naturally improves focus and attention

At Advance Occupational Therapy, we observe the positive impact of appropriate sensory support on daily life. When children comprehend their sensory needs, they acquire valuable tools for effective emotional regulation.

Every child is deserving of comprehension and encouragement. πŸ’™

We're interested in learning about sensory strategies you've found helpful in supporting your child's calmness and focus.

Bonding with your little one is all about spending quality time together.
Great ideas include:

1. visiting local parks,
2. reading a cozy story,
3. cooking or doing chores,
4. enjoying a board game,
5. having a nice chat,
6. playing a fun game.

Any focused time together works wonders. You don't need hours, as even brief moments help nurture the closeness kids truly need. Children really blossom when they feel loved and secure with you.

SUPPORT THE THRIVING KIDS PETITION

Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA) and the National Allied Health Practitioner Group (NAHPG) have collaborated to create a formal petition.

A total of 20,000 signatures is required to table the petition in the Legislative Assembly; please distribute this request to relevant stakeholders.

The petition advocates for maintaining parental choice regarding pediatric allied health providers. It argues that the current Thriving Kids proposal restricts access to established, private allied health providers for children aged 0-8.

Public participation is required to reach the signature threshold. Please sign and circulate this document.

Dissemination of this petition is necessary to ensure widespread community awareness.

The Thriving Kids initiative is scheduled for implementation in NSW on October 1, 2026. This petition seeks to amend the policy to ensure service inclusivity and provider choice.

Access the official e-petition via the following link to provide your support.
