A lot of families come to us after months of quietly figuring it out on their own. Adapting routines. Buying things that almost work. Wondering if they're missing something.

Sometimes they are. And sometimes it's not complicated. It's just the right piece of equipment, recommended by someone who has taken the time to understand their needs first.

Our OTs assess and recommend specialised equipment across handwriting and fine motor, personal care, play, and specialised equipment. Swipe through to see what that covers.

We don't hand families a list and send them to a supplier. Every recommendation comes after a proper assessment, so what we suggest actually fits.

If NDIS funding is part of the picture, we take care of the clinical documentation too.

If you're not sure whether equipment is even the right conversation to be having, reach out. We'll help you work that out.

Most people know OT helps with fine motor skills and sensory processing. But mental health? That's OT too.

When a child's anxiety, emotional regulation, or sense of identity affects how they move through daily life, that's squarely in our world.

At Grace Children's Therapy, we will be offering psychology services that sit right alongside our OT team for exactly this reason. Because for a lot of children and young people, the emotional and the functional are the same problem.

Our occupational therapists support children, teens, and young adults aged 0 to 25 with anxiety, school refusal, big emotions, social challenges, low mood, and more. It only makes sense to have a supportive psychological team to sit beside our occupational therapists to provide a wrap-around supportive service.

NDIS registered. Medicare accepted. Telehealth available.

A lot of kids have grown up without the support that could have made a real difference in their lives.

All because of where they live!

Fact: Specialist support is more easily available in the city.

Which means, rural kids often miss out!
But that's changing.

Country Connections is Grace Children's Therapy's telehealth OT program for kids, teens, and young adults aged 8 and up across rural and remote NSW.

It was built because we believed that the quality of support a child receives shouldn't be determined by how far they live from a city.

Your child's therapist gets to know them, builds a plan around their actual goals, and works with your family in the environment where your child's challenges actually show up.

Rural doesn't mean less. It just means the support needs to come to you and may look a little different.

What if mealtimes didn't have to feel like this?

Three things that actually change when a child gets the right feeding support, because it's more than just the food.

The SOS Feeding Program at Grace Children's Therapy builds safety around food over 10 weeks. Play-based. No pressure. An initial assessment is required before joining.

Assessment spots available now at our Castle Hill practice.

If your child's teacher has ever said "they find it hard to focus" or "they seem distracted easily," this one's for you.

Children with ADHD, sensory processing differences, learning disabilities, or visual perception difficulties often struggle with attention in class. Not because they're not trying, but because the environment isn't set up to support how their brain works.

Swipe for five strategies that genuinely help.

If you'd like support putting a plan in place for your child, our OT team is here.

Your child swaps between hands and you're not sure which one is "theirs." That's actually completely normal before age four. But once they hit four to six, a dominant hand usually starts to settle in.

Here's how to support that process at home, without forcing anything.

The key is observation first. Watch which hand they reach for most. Which hand does the actual work while the other steadies or holds? That's your starting point.

Once you notice a preference, the goal is consistency.

Gently encourage them to start and finish tasks with the same hand rather than swapping when they get tired. A short rest is far better than letting them switch, because swapping slows down the skill-building that comes from repetition.

If your child still shows no clear preference by school age, an occupational therapist can take a closer look and help develop the hand skills they need for school and everyday life.

Save this post and share it with a parent who's been wondering the same thing.

There's a difference between a goal that lives on a therapy plan and a goal you can actually feel.

One sounds clinical. The other sounds like Tuesday morning, the school canteen, the park after school. Real life.

That's what Goal Directed Therapy is built around. Not broad skill areas, but one specific, meaningful goal your child or young person actually wants to achieve, with a clear plan to get there.

If progress has felt slow or hard to see, this might be why.

Something we'd say if we weren't worried about how it lands:

The environment you're homeschooling in might be working against your child's needs.

The kitchen table. The hum of the fridge. The sibling in the background. The transition from breakfast straight into reading with no movement breaks in between.

None of these feel like a big deal. But for a child with sensory differences, any one of them can derail the session before it starts.

OT helps you see what your child's body actually needs in the space where learning happens, and make adjustments specific to them.

Grace Children's Therapy works with homeschooling families across NSW. Register your interest via the link in the comments.
