A competitive 6-step Highland Fling involves 192 hops performed on the balls of the feet—an effort often compared to sprinting a mile.

These repetitive jumping and landing demands place significant stress on a dancer’s body, making efficient movement mechanics essential for both performance and injury prevention.

Using VALD ForceDecks, Jamie can assess force production and identify movement inefficiencies to guide targeted rehabilitation, track progress, and support injury prevention.

Combining physiotherapy expertise with her years of dance experience, Jamie helps Highland dancers perform at their best at Kachan Roy Physiotherapy.

Injury doesn’t always mean you need to stop moving. In fact, staying active during recovery is often one of the most important parts of healing.

Working with a Kachan physiotherapist can help you safely continue training and participating in the activities you love while your body recovers. Maintaining activity during an injury can help preserve aerobic fitness, strength, mobility, and even support emotional well-being and confidence throughout the recovery process.

At our clinic, we focus on helping you adapt - not just stop. Whether that means modifying your workouts, adjusting your training load, cross-training, or finding alternative ways to stay active, we will work with you to create a plan that keeps you moving safely and effectively.

Recovery is not about doing nothing - it’s about doing the right things at the right time. Let us help you stay active, stay strong, and return to the activities you love with confidence!

Accurately identifying the factors that place you at risk of falls is essential for prevention and long-term health.
These factors can vary widely - from reduced proprioception and limited range of motion to strength and power deficits. Each plays a role in how well your body responds to movement, balance challenges, and unexpected changes in your environment.
But it’s not just about knowing what the risks are - it’s about understanding the why behind them.
When you understand why your body moves the way it does, you can take more targeted, effective steps to improve stability, build confidence, and stay active.
By capturing precise, objective data on how your body controls force and maintains stability, VALD force plates provide instant insight into balance performance. This allows us to identify asymmetries and underlying deficits as they happen!
