June is Men’s Health Week — a time to bring attention to the physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of men and boys. 💜

Many men are taught to carry stress, pain, and pressure quietly. But no one should have to navigate life’s challenges alone.

At Breland Counselling & Support, we offer a compassionate and supportive environment where men can explore their experiences, relationships, identity, and the stories shaping their lives. Whether it’s stress, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, or relationship challenges, there is space for these conversations.

Taking care of your mental health is a meaningful part of overall wellbeing — and reaching out for support can be an important step in that process.

You deserve support, care, and space to be heard. 💜

Joy had the opportunity to attend a webinar about Protective Factors Amongst LGBTQ+ Youth and she left reflecting on the profound impact that acceptance and community care can have. 💜

One of the most powerful messages from the session was that one of the most effective ways adults can reduce su***de risk among LGBTQ+ youth is through everyday acts of support and affirmation. This can look like:
✨ Using a young person's chosen name and pronouns.
✨ Supporting their authentic self-expression through clothing, hair, and identity.
✨ Welcoming and respecting the people they love and the relationships that matter to them.

Dr. Price shared that LGBTQ+ youth are **four times more likely to attempt su***de than their peers**, not because of who they are, but because they are often navigating minority stress, stigma, and discrimination.

Another important takeaway was the growing body of evidence showing that anti-queer legislation and policies contribute to increased su***de risk among LGBTQ+ youth. This reminds us that creating supportive communities isn't only about individual actions—it's also about advocating for systems and policies that affirm and protect young people.

Support is not just a feeling; it's something we do. Every act of acceptance, every moment of affirmation, and every effort toward social justice can become part of a larger story of belonging and hope. 💜

Gaslighting can be a painful and confusing experience. It’s a form of manipulation where someone repeatedly causes you to question your own memories, perceptions, or feelings—sometimes leaving you wondering if you are the problem.

Over time, gaslighting can impact how we trust ourselves and our own stories. It can show up in relationships where experiences are dismissed, minimized, or reframed in ways that make someone doubt what they know to be true.

At Breland Counselling & Support, we hold space for therapy participants to explore their experiences and reconnect with their own narratives in a supportive environment. No one deserves to have their experiences dismissed or rewritten by someone else.

Your story matters. Your experiences matter. And you deserve to be heard. 💜

If you’re looking for support, our team would be honoured to walk alongside you.

If you’ve been curious about a counselling approach that goes beyond talking and helps you reconnect with your body, Hillary may be a great fit for you.

Hillary integrates Somatic Experiencing, mind & body approaches, which explore how stress, trauma, emotions, and life experiences can become held within the nervous system. Together, these approaches help build awareness of the connection between mind and body, creating opportunities for greater regulation, healing, and resilience.

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, grief, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, this work can help you tune into your body’s wisdom and move toward feeling more grounded and present.
