Supporting patients through cancer care is not just about clinical treatment, it is about helping people navigate the emotional and practical challenges along the way.

As a patient navigator for colorectal and gastrointestinal cancers at SHN, Joy Abbas works closely with the care team to guide patients from diagnosis through treatment and beyond, helping to bridge gaps and ensure they feel supported at every step.

SHN has reached a major milestone in kidney care!

With the completion of the largest dialysis redevelopment in our history, patients are now receiving care in modern, purpose‑built spaces at both Centenary and General hospitals. These upgrades mean safer care, more comfort, and a better experience for those who depend on dialysis week after week.

This work is a big step forward for our community - but we know there’s more to do to meet growing demand.

This , we are celebrating the teams across SHN who are rethinking what care for older adults can look like.

From our Move and Play initiative at Centenary Hospital, where staff are bringing energy and creativity into rehabilitation, to our continued spread of our End PJ Paralysis program, helping patients stay active, mobile, and engaged in their recovery, this work is changing the patient experience in meaningful ways.

It is also being recognized beyond our walls. SHN is proud to be designated an Age-Friendly Health System by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, reflecting our commitment to delivering care that focuses on what matters most to older adults.

Together, these efforts show what is possible when teams come together with a shared purpose: helping seniors maintain independence, recover faster, and feel more like themselves throughout their care journey.
