Trauma is something that happens too fast and too suddenly. When lives are changed in an instant it is natural that feelings of panic, uncertainty, insecurity and fear become part of our everyday lives.
We need predictability, patterned repetition to make us feel safe. So when tragedy and trauma devastate this predictability we are left on very uncertain, shaky foundations.
Be gentle with yourself and with others. ♥️
Some losses don’t just break your heart, they change the way you see the world.
After being involved in a Road Traffic Collision it’s common to develop a deep fear around death, loss, or something bad happening to the people you love or yourself. The world can stop feeling safe. You may find yourself overthinking, panicking, checking in on people more, or feeling constantly on edge and unable to return to the life you had before.
These feelings are more common than many understand and are completely normal.
At Road Ahead, we want people to know that they are not “being dramatic" for feeling this way no matter how much time has past. Fear is a powerful emotion and no one should have to carry that alone.
Healing doesn’t mean forgetting or moving on. It means learning how to live again, while slowly finding safety and hope again.
