Staying safe in the heat πŸ₯΅β˜€οΈ

Heat affects both physical and mental health and some medications can increase the risk of heat-related illness.

Hot weather can lead to increased stress, anxiety, irritability, poor sleep, and difficulty concentrating. For people living with mental health conditions, heat can sometimes worsen symptoms.

Some medications prescribed for mental health conditions may affect how the body regulates temperature. This can make people more vulnerable during hot weather.

During the current period of high temperatures these are some helpful tips:

πŸ’§ Drink plenty of fluids.

🏠 Stay in cool or shaded places when possible.

πŸ‘• Wear light clothing and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.

πŸ’Š Take medications as prescribed and speak to a healthcare professional if you have concerns about heat and your medications.

πŸ“ž Check in on friends, family members, and neighbours who may be more vulnerable.

Looking after our mental and physical health during hot weather is important. Stay cool, stay connected, and seek support if needed.

Our quiz was busy and lively last week, with plenty of friendly competition and laughter throughout the session!

A huge well done to Dan, who impressed everyone by getting nearly all of the answers correct and securing first place. Congratulations also to James, who put in a fantastic performance to claim an honourable second place.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such an enjoyable afternoon. We look forward to seeing you all at the next quiz!

Last week was a busy and enjoyable morning at our Monday Social, which runs every Monday from 10am to 12pm.

There was plenty going on, with service users taking part in Scrabble, colouring, dominoes, and lots of friendly chats with supportive friends.

A special mention goes to our colleague Julie, who achieved the seemingly impossible by beating our long-standing dominoes champion, Steven! We're still not quite sure how he manages to win almost every game, so Julie was absolutely thrilled with her well-earned victory.

Congratulations also to Ian, who came out on top in Scrabble.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a fun, friendly, and welcoming morning. We look forward to seeing everyone again today!

Connecting communities and strengthening support networks across Bolton!

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of attending the Bolton Guild of Help’s Share to Care event. The event provides a valuable opportunity for local charities, community groups, and support organisations to come together, share information, and learn more about the services available across Bolton.

It was a fantastic day, with plenty of opportunities for networking, sharing ideas, and building new connections within our Bolton community.

A special thank you goes to our fantastic colleagues, Saffron and Stacey, for representing our services and engaging with attendees throughout the event. Their dedication helped raise awareness of the support we provide and created valuable opportunities to connect with local organisations and community members.

A lovely Monday Morning Social! 😊

It was wonderful to see people coming together, enjoying good conversation, sharing experiences, and supporting one another. Building connections and friendships is what our Monday mornings are all about. πŸ’š

Alongside the chats, there was some friendly competition too. Ian came out on top against Connah at Scrabble, while Steven had a very successful game of Dominoes against Dave and Mo who didn't get much of a chance to get going! πŸ˜„

If you'd like to meet new people, enjoy a welcoming atmosphere, and be part of a supportive community, we'd love for you to join us this morning.
