🌸 International Day of Action for Women’s Health – 28 May
Today we’re recognising the International Day of Action for Women’s Health, a global movement that has been championing women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights since 1987.
At our surgery, we see every day how important it is for women to have accessible, safe, and high‑quality healthcare. This day is a reminder that women everywhere still face barriers to the care they deserve — and that together, we can help change that.
💜 Why This Day Matters
The day shines a light on ongoing challenges many women experience, including:
Maternal health — ensuring safe pregnancy and birth care
Access to contraception — empowering informed choices
Safe reproductive care
Support against gender‑based violence
These issues affect women in every community, including ours.
✊ This Year’s Focus
Each year, organisations around the world unite under a shared theme. Recent themes have highlighted the importance of solidarity, resisting regressive policies, and protecting women’s rights. The message is clear: women’s health is a human right, and safeguarding it requires collective action.
