In a world that often moves at a hundred miles an hour, there is something rather special about a journey that encourages everyone to slow down for a moment.

A truly special farewell today, as we had the privilege of supporting a family with a horse-drawn funeral.

Led by Minky (20) and Mocha (16), the beautiful pair carried their precious passenger on her final journey with dignity and grace. We were once again pleased to work alongside Natalie and Neil from Horse Drawn Occasions.

Natalie and Neil ensured everything ran smoothly, while Minky and Mocha made sure nobody was going anywhere too quickly and attracted plenty of attention along the route. We suspect they know exactly how handsome they are!

Every family says goodbye in their own way, and it is always an honour to help create a farewell that reflects the life and wishes of the person being remembered.

Thank you to the family for allowing us to be part of such an important day.

We are doing something different today!

Today, Ross, had the privilege of visiting Care Futures; The Manor House and neighbouring Beck House to deliver a ā€œCaring with Confidenceā€ seminar for their dedicated care teams.

The session focused on understanding and recognising grief, supporting one another through difficult moments, identifying the signs of compassion fatigue, and helping carers feel more confident when supporting residents and families through loss.

Those working in care give so much of themselves every single day, often quietly carrying the emotional weight that comes with the role. It was a real privilege to spend time with such compassionate and engaged teams, sharing experiences and encouraging open conversations around wellbeing and support.

A huge thank you to everyone at The Manor House and Beck House for the warm welcome, honesty, and participation throughout the session. Supporting those who care for others is something we’re incredibly passionate about. šŸ’™

This is training which we provide free of charge, if you work in a care home and think this would be of benefit to you and your colleagues please get in touch.

We’re proud to once again be supporting the Father’s Day Memorial Service at Westerleigh Crematorium — something we have been honoured to be part of for the past 4 years. šŸ’™

Father’s Day can be a difficult time for many families, and this special service offers a chance to pause, reflect, remember and celebrate the dads, grandads and father figures who are so deeply missed.

As part of the service, families are invited to send in photographs of their father or father figure to be included in a special photo montage during the ceremony — a lovely way to see treasured memories shared together. You can either send your photos to Ross or Shaun at the email addresses shown. Or you can DM us on our page.

Ross says: ā€œIt’s a privilege to support this service each year. Father’s Day can bring a mixture of emotions, and having the opportunity to remember loved ones together in such a peaceful setting means a great deal to many families.ā€

šŸ“ Waterside Chapel, Westerleigh Crematorium

Four years ago we transformed our premises into the warm and welcoming environment you see today.

Of course, like many refurbishment projects, things didn’t quite go to plan. It ran over schedule, and after the designers proudly unveiled a rather questionable shade of mint green, Ross took one look and decided it all had to be painted again!

Thankfully, the end result was worth it.

To mark four years since the refurbishment was completed, we’ve put together a short look back at how our premises have changed over the years. From the original dĆ©cor to the surroundings families know today, it’s a reminder of how far we’ve come.

We’re proud of the peaceful and comforting space we’ve created for the families we serve, and we hope you enjoy this little trip down memory lane.

Today Ross has gone the extra mile—quite literally. And you would have thought after yesterday’s half marathon he had done enough miles for one week!

Travelling from Bristol all the way to Taunton, Ross is conducting a funeral for a family based here in Bristol whose loved one had been living in Chard.

The family wished for her final journey to begin from her home in Chard and continue to Taunton Crematorium—a place she knew well and where they felt she would be most at peace.

Ross has been expertly supported by Martin, our driver for the day, whose excellent local knowledge has been invaluable in helping ensure everything runs smoothly.

At the heart of what we do is making every funeral as personal and meaningful as possible. No distance is too far when it comes to honouring a family’s wishes and providing the care and dedication they deserve.

Update on the ā€œgarage gangā€ā€¦

Turns out we didn’t have three chicks… we’ve got FIVE! 🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦

All squeezed in like a proper family photo šŸ“ø

And mum? Lyn spotted her this afternoon—sat nearby with a mouthful of grubs, probably wondering how she’s ended up feeding this lot all day!

Safe to say our garage is now officially the busiest nursery in Bristol.

A big welcome to our three newest team members!

In a place dedicated to care and compassion, we’ve been quietly reminded of life’s gentler moments.

A robin has made a nest in our garage, and we’re now home to three small chicks.

We’ll be ensuring they are left undisturbed while they grow—an unexpected but beautiful reminder of life continuing, even in the most unlikely of places. 🐣

Sometimes, it’s the smallest moments that stay with us the longest.
