We want to understand how we can better support mums in the penrith area.

Thanks to support from Penrith Town Council Cumbria, Cumbria Community Foundation and The Frieda Scott Charitable Trust. We have some funding to support mums in the penrith area.

We have recently paused our weekly support group in Penrith Leisure Centre due to low numbers and we are reaching out to understand what we could do better.

Whether you are a mum, or support mums in the penrith area, please take a couple of minutes to complete the following short survey.

And if you have an idea that doesn't seem to fit a question please add it to the comments box at the end of the survey.

Happy Mums support mums with children of any age, from pregnancy and beyond! Our focus is on helping mums feel less isolated, more socially connected and better able to cope on a day-to-day basis.

Can you help us help more mums to know they are not alone?

Aldi UK currently has just plain yellow wrapping paper in at the moment.

We have nothing to wrap. But the yellow is calling... why do I feel like we NEED this wrapping paper?

Tomorrow is our Teen to 25 group. A relaxed space where mums can come along with their children (or without them), bring a friend or family member for support if they like, and a space where there's no pressure to do anything at all. Come along and just be yourself. Tomorrow facilitators Helen and Diane will be there alongside someone from the Cumberland Family Hubs. There's toys for the kids and a chance for mums to chat, connect and share.
If you know a mum age teen to 25 who you think would be interested then please show them this.

📍Newtown Family Hub, 19-23 Shadygrove Road, Carlisle, CA2 7LE

The final part (27): I’m not who I was before. But I’m becoming more OK with who I am now — at least some of the time.

My baby is my baby. Sometimes he even looks like me. I do love him.

It’s not quite the kind of love I thought it would be. Not the gushing absorbing world changing love I was told I would feel.

And I still grieve a little for that.

But it’s a love that is growing.

Moving from Maternal mental health week to Mental health Awareness Week we are continuing our story about a mum who needed support with her mental health.

Full story available on our website: https://happymums.org.uk/a-story-of-a-mum-who-needs-help-with-her-mental-health/

This story is fiction, shaped by the shared feelings of many mums we support, without breaking anyone’s confidence.
If parts of it resonate, it’s because you’re not alone. These thoughts are far more common than we often admit — and often the hardest to say out loud
