Meet Chloe Sung, Optometrist
Chloe Sung will be joining our practice on the 22nd of June.
Chloe Sung joins Birrell Rainford with a strong clinical background and a clear commitment to patient-centred care. Her interest in optometry began early, inspired by her own experience as someone with high levels of myopia and the impact that clear vision had on her daily life. That early fascination developed into a career focused on helping others see and feel their best.
Chloe began her career as an optical assistant in a busy Glasgow city centre practice, gaining hands-on experience in contact lenses, dispensing, and clinical pre-testing. She went on to qualify as an optometrist before working as a mobile pre-registration optometrist across Dundee and Edinburgh. This role gave her valuable experience working with a wide range of patients and clinical systems, helping her develop a calm, adaptable approach in different environments.
Chloe has been working as a resident optometrist at 2020 Opticians ,where she has enjoyed building relationships with both new and returning patients. She particularly enjoys problem-solving during emergency appointments and has enjoyed building her experience in myopia management, with extensive experience in fitting children with MiSight contact lenses.
Alongside her practice work, Chloe is currently undertaking further training in independent prescribing. As part of this, she is completing hospital placements at the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion, where she works under the supervision of ophthalmologists assessing referred patients. This experience is strengthening her clinical decision-making and expanding her knowledge of conditions such as glaucoma.
Chloe was drawn to Birrell Rainford because of its focus on high-quality, unhurried care. She values the opportunity to spend more time with patients, building trust and managing their eye health over the long term. Her approach is calm and reassuring, with a focus on explaining each step clearly so patients feel comfortable and informed throughout their appointment.
