Fantabulous Friday was full of fun and… cake! It is Sam’s birthday on Sunday so we celebrated with lots of cake and fun.
Sam would also like to take this opportunity as National Volunteer Week seems like the perfect time to say a huge thank you to the amazing people who give their time to Creative Serenity.
Anyone who knows us knows that Creative Serenity isn’t just about arts and crafts. It’s about friendship, laughter, inclusion, endless cups of tea… and the occasional mocha… supporting one another and creating a place where adults with additional needs can truly be themselves. None of that would be possible without our wonderful volunteers.
Marion and Lucy are our newest volunteers and have fitted in so naturally. Marion has a calm and friendly way about her and always takes the time to have a chat, helping everyone feel comfortable and valued. Lucy brings fun, encouragement and a real understanding of how important it is that every person feels included and respected.
Karen is our ray of sunshine. She brings energy, laughter and fun to every session, while somehow managing to keep me (Sam) organised at the same time … no small task!
Ellie is quiet and gentle, but her kindness speaks volumes. She notices the little things and always makes people feel cared for.
Holly brings creativity wherever she goes. She is full of fantastic ideas for art projects and is always inspiring us to try something new.
And then there’s Liz. My friend for longer than either of us would probably like to admit. She understands exactly why Creative Serenity exists and shares my passion for inclusion, compassion and making sure adults with disabilities have opportunities, friendships and experiences that enrich their lives.
To all of you, thank you. Thank you for the laughs, the conversations, the patience, the creativity, the support and for helping make Creative Serenity the warm, welcoming place that it is.
And while we’re celebrating volunteers, I’ll take the opportunity to say that we’d love a few more people to join our Creative Serenity family, especially between 1pm and 4pm. If you’re happy to get stuck into activities, enjoy a good chat, can hold your own in a football conversation and happen to have barista skills, you may be exactly who we’re looking for. The demand for mochas at Creative Serenity has recently increased dramatically and, quite frankly, we’re struggling to keep up with our very discerning customers!
Thank you to every volunteer, past and present, who has helped make Creative Serenity what it is today.
