What an absolutely wonderful afternoon we had at Willow Tree Lodge today! ❤️

We would like to say a huge thank you to one of our amazing residents’ families, who very kindly gifted us all a fantastic session with Jiggy Wrigglers. Such a thoughtful gesture and one that brought so much joy to our home. 🥰

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming five gorgeous babies and a toddler for an afternoon filled with music, movement, singing and lots of interaction. 👶🎵💃

As you can imagine, there were smiles everywhere! Our residents loved watching the little ones, joining in with the songs and activities and, of course, enjoying those very special moments between the generations. ❤️

A truly heartwarming afternoon that we won’t forget in a hurry. Thank you again to our wonderful resident’s family for making this special experience possible. 💐👏

So, although we didn't get through to the shortlist with the Hampshire Care Association Care Home Awards, we did receive this incredible nomination from one of our wonderful residents' daughter, Maria. Although getting through would have been amazing, receiving this means so much more to us at Willow Tree Lodge, and I felt it important to share:

'As someone who has worked in social care for many years and runs a homecare service myself, I have a deep understanding of what high-quality care looks like. When my mum moved to Willow Tree Lodge in September 2024, following a long hospital stay and a period of decline at home due to isolation, reduced mobility and early dementia, I visited several care homes. From the moment I walked through the door, I knew this care home was somewhere special.
The team immediately made it clear: “This is her home, and it is a privilege to care for her.” That ethos is evident every day. Mum is a quiet, private person, yet staff know her so well that they understand when to gently encourage her, when to give her space, and how to involve her in ways she enjoys.
The care provided is exceptional. When Mum fell earlier this year, the team worked alongside the ambulance crew and, respecting her strong wish to avoid hospital wherever possible, supported her to remain safely at home with close monitoring. When she later needed hospital treatment following a seizure, staff kept me updated throughout the day, giving me confidence she would be able to return home safely – which she did.
The home creates a genuine sense of community. Mum now enjoys joining the choir and cookery sessions, making sausage rolls and cheese scones, activities she would not have considered before. Residents are connected with the wider community through visits from local schools, outings to garden centres, the pub and fish and chips from the chippie. Families are welcomed too; Christmas lunch was made incredibly special, with personalised crackers prepared for everyone (I still have mine).
What makes this home stand out is the relationships. Staff retention is excellent, with many team members having cared for Mum since she arrived. Even with dementia, she recognises them, trusts them and feels safe.
This care home has given my mum more than care. They have given her belonging, friendship, dignity and a home where she can continue to thrive and enjoy life.'

🍪☕ A Delicious Homemade Morning Treat! ☕🍪

Our residents at Willow Tree Lodge were treated to something rather delicious with their morning refreshments today — homemade mincemeat shortbread! 😋❤️

A huge thank you to our wonderful chef Vicki, who once again has been busy baking and creating something special for everyone to enjoy. 👩‍🍳👏

The combination of buttery shortbread and tasty mincemeat went down an absolute treat alongside a morning cuppa — we’re certainly very spoilt here at Willow Tree Lodge! 🥰☕

Colourful, refreshing and certainly very tasty, it made the perfect afternoon treat to enjoy alongside a cuppa and a good chat. ☕❤️

This afternoon at Willow Tree Lodge, it was time for another firm favourite — our Wordsearch of the Day! 🧠😊

Our residents settled down to hunt for those cleverly hidden words, with lots of concentration and a little teamwork when one proved particularly tricky! 👀😂

There’s always a great sense of achievement when that last elusive word is finally spotted — usually followed by a very triumphant “FOUND IT!” 👏🤣

This afternoon at Willow Tree Lodge, we held our monthly Residents’ Meeting, giving everyone the opportunity to come together, have their say and share their thoughts and ideas. ❤️

We chatted about life at Willow Tree Lodge, what everyone has been enjoying, upcoming activities and events, as well as anything our residents would like to see us introduce or do differently. 📝😊

Our residents’ opinions are incredibly important to us, and these meetings are a great opportunity to make sure their voices, choices and suggestions are at the heart of what we do. 🥰

Here’s a little sneaky peek at some of the questions and answers from one of this week’s quizzes at Willow Tree Lodge! 👀✏️

Our quizzes are always a firm favourite, with everyone joining in, testing their general knowledge and, of course, enjoying a little friendly competition! 🏆🥰

But we think everyone’s favourite rounds have to be the ones where Alison is put to work! 😂 Whether she’s acting out different activities or animals, our residents have to work out exactly what on earth she is supposed to be! 🐘🐒🏊‍♀️🎭

Some of the guesses can be just as entertaining as the acting, and these rounds certainly guarantee plenty of laughter, smiles and audience participation! 😂❤️

We started our morning at Willow Tree Lodge by getting our bodies moving with our daily chair exercise session with Alison! 🪑🎶

Our residents were put through their paces with plenty of gentle stretching, arm and leg movements and, of course, a few laughs along the way! 😂❤️

It’s always a lovely way to begin the day together — a little movement, plenty of encouragement and lots of smiles. 🥰👏

🎶☕ A Morning with Patsy Cline ☕🎶

This morning at Willow Tree Lodge, we enjoyed listening to the wonderful music of Patsy Cline, as we remembered that today would have been her birthday. 🎂🎵❤️

Her familiar songs provided the perfect soundtrack while we enjoyed our morning refreshments, along with a tasty treat from our ever-expanding snack trolley! ☕🍪🍫 There certainly seems to be something new appearing on it every day! 😂

The music sparked plenty of memories and conversation, with some familiar tunes encouraging a little sing-along too. 🎤🥰

Good music, a cuppa, a tasty snack and great company — a lovely way to start our morning! ❤️
