The lounge was set up for communion this week, with prayer books passed around and hymns sung together during the afternoon service. Some family members followed every word, while others sat listening with a cup of tea nearby and the television turned low in the corner. ⛪

For many people here, church and communion have been part of life for years, so continuing those moments still matters.

The 81st Anniversary of VE Day was celebrated properly here with Union Jack bunting everywhere, music playing and lunch out under the marquees. Team members dressed up for the day before helping family members outside to enjoy traditional dishes, mash and gravy or Woolton pie, followed by bread pudding and custard.

Jane the singer had everyone joining in through the afternoon! Dawn said everything looked “very posh”, Donald said he’d had a lovely time, and Michael was singing away for most of the afternoon. Ann and Malcolm also said they really enjoyed the day. 🥰

No-secco in the Garden! ☕

Last week, we came together in the garden for afternoon tea.

We had homemade scones with jam and cream, jam tarts, and finger sandwiches, with tuna proving to be the star of the show! Head chef Jamie had a great time popping the cork on the No-secco, and one of our family members took a sip, pulled a face at the bubbles… and then finished the whole glass!

Country music, good food, and even better company, it was a truly lovely afternoon. House lead Mandy said it was especially great to see those who sometimes prefer their space, getting involved for the occasion.

A huge thank you to kitchen assistant Nat, Registered Nurse Ria, and the whole team for making it so special!

It has been a lovely April here. 🌻

Donald enjoyed a quiet lunch in the dining room, while Peter made the most of the sunshine outside with a cold drink and a slice of chocolate cake. Wendy spent some time exploring the sensory wall in Parsonage, touching and feeling the colourful canvases on display. Toni was helped to choose her lunch, and Jacq got to admire a plate of freshly iced biscuits decorated with colourful sprinkles.

Another beautiful week full of moments that made us smile. 🌸
Donald showing off the flowers, George soaking up the sunshine, Toni lost in her colouring book, and June, our unofficial guinea pig babysitter, watching The Chase in very good company.
Every single day brings something to be grateful for.
And lunch today? Hearty, homemade and made with love. 🍽️

Happy St George's Day! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Today some of us joined House Care Home on a visit to the fantastic Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, Europe's largest naval aviation museum. From exploring cockpits to getting up close with historic aircraft, there was so much to discover across 100 years of naval aviation history. A wonderful day out!

We have also been recently enjoying some hearty homemade lunches; a classic chicken and stuffing roll, served with wedges, peas and carrots. 💛

Resetting the Bar - Leading the Way, a recent training course led by Eve Carder at Evolve Care Academy , brought together team members from across Evolve's homes who had been recognised by their colleagues as positive influences within their teams.

The focus of the day was simple - leadership isn’t defined by a job title. It shows up in everyday moments: how people support each other, how they notice small changes, and how they shape the experience of those living in our homes.

Time was spent revisiting the “why” behind what we do, with honest conversations around standards, mindset, workplace culture and the role each person plays in influencing those around them. From how a table is set, to how a bedroom feels, to the way we communicate with each other and give and receive feedback, small details that have a real impact on daily life. We discussed the things we do well and where we can improve, learning from each other's strengths and ideas.

It was a chance to pause, think about what matters, and take that back into day-to-day life in the home while recognising and celebrating the people already stepping forward in their roles - often without realising the influence they have, simply doing what needs to be done because they care.

What a lovely few days we've had here! Elisabeth has been making the most of the sunshine, getting some fresh air in the garden while working on her colouring book. Pauline had a wonderful time at lunch rounding things off with a strawberry cheesecake, looks like it went down a treat! And Toni had a very special furry visitor, loving every minute of it. There really is nothing quite like a bit of animal therapy to put a smile on your face! 🩷
