We brought a little friendly competition outside with a cricket match between our team members. Our family members watched the game and helped to present the medals afterwards. 🏏

A bit of what’s been going on around the home recently…

Baking together, getting stuck into a word search, sitting down for a proper roast and popping out to the pub for a pint. And judging by the smiles, there have been some good conversations along the way too. ❤

Just normal days, spent doing the things people fancy doing.

A one-way steamship ticket, a silver coin bought in Turkey and an ice-cold lager that helped begin a sixty-six-year marriage. Robert Darley-Doran has quite a story to tell.

For decades, Robert and his wife Liz have worked together studying and cataloguing Islamic coins, with their work taking them across Turkey and the Middle East. Robert now lives with vascular Dementia here at Frome Nursing Home, but moving into the home hasn’t meant leaving that part of his life behind.

He and Liz are still cataloguing coins together, completing three jobs in the first part of 2026.

Read Robert’s story, from Istanbul to Frome, below.

Robert Darley-Doran’s remarkable life has taken him from New York to Istanbul and now Frome, Somerset, where his lifelong work with Islamic coins continues.

There’s no single way a day should look here. 🏠

It might start with the newspaper at the table, choosing what’s for lunch, spending time arranging flowers or sharing a hug with someone you know well. These ordinary parts of the day matter because they belong to the people living here and reflect the routines, interests and relationships that make life their own.

A sunny afternoon in the garden, a cup of tea and chocolate within reach, a game of dominoes at the table and time spent catching up over lunch.

There doesn’t have to be a packed schedule for a day to feel full. Around the Woodlands and Parsonage households, we have been choosing how to spend our time and settling into the familiar routines that make up an ordinary day at home.

It's the little details that make somewhere feel like home. 🍺🎨

A new pub corner is starting to take shape in Woodlands, with the bell ready to ring and the bar coming together one piece at a time. Elsewhere, the colouring pencils were out for a quiet afternoon, lunch was shared around a table set with activities and conversation, and a little friendly competition appeared with the Nerf target game!

No two days look quite the same, and that's exactly how life should be.

A little look at life in our home lately ❤ Peter has been making the most of the fresh air in the garden, Maureen chose a lovely shade of green for her manicure, and Communion brought a quiet moment for those who wished to take part.

Around the home, tables have been laid for lunch, games and magazines left ready for the afternoon, and our team members have found time for a quick photograph together. Everyday life looks different for each of us, and that is just how it should be.

From painting and flower arranging to a game of darts before lunch, there has been plenty happening around the home recently. The hydrangeas made a lovely centrepiece for the table, while ice cream provided a welcome way to cool down on a warm afternoon. 🪷

Different people chose different ways to spend their time, with plenty of concentration, conversation and the occasional competitive throw!

Life at here is made up of the things that give each day purpose, lending a hand with the ironing, choosing a fresh nail colour, spending time with a pet, stepping outside for some fresh air or sitting down to a favourite curry. These ordinary moments are shaped around what each person enjoys and how they choose to spend their day. 💛
