Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) uses gentle electrical pulses to activate muscles that need a bit of extra help.

It’s most commonly used for foot drop, but can also support the hamstrings, quadriceps and gluteal muscles to improve stability and make walking feel smoother and more natural.

FES can help...

👣 Lift your toes so you clear your foot more easily

🧎Reduce knee “flick back” and protect your joints

🦵 Improve hip and leg stability to prevent giving way

Our team uses the latest FES technology to assess your walking, match you with the right device, and guide you through a supported trial so you feel confident using it.

This week we’re shining a light on one of our brilliant members of the team: Ginny!

This year marks Ginny’s 12th anniversary with NeuroPhysio Scotland. Her commitment to helping people regain confidence and independence through personalised rehab is exactly why she’s so valued by our team and our clients.

Ginny is also welcoming new clients between the Lanark and Biggar area in South Lanarkshire, so if you or someone you know could benefit from specialist neuro rehab at home or in the community then we’d love to help.

We’re sharing a research opportunity from Gloria Nyarko, a Doctor of Physiotherapy student at Robert Gordon University, who is exploring the experiences of people with neurological conditions who have taken part in remote physiotherapy.

The study aims to understand what works well, what could be improved, and how remote physio can better support people in the future. Your experiences could help shape how services are designed.

🧠 Who can take part?
People living with neurological conditions who have received physiotherapy remotely (e.g., video calls, online sessions).

📝 What’s involved?
A short online survey — completely voluntary and anonymous.

📄 How to join:
Please see the flyer and survey link shared below.

What a great start to the week with a lovely client review sharing the positive impact of Functional Electrical Stimulation.

FES (Functional Electrical Stimulation) uses gentle electrical pulses to activate specific muscles and improve the way you move. It can help lift your toes, stabilise your knee, and support your hip — making walking feel easier, safer and more efficient.

We offer a range of the latest devices and can help you find the right solution for your mobility goals.
