Some of our longer standing followers may remember a post we shared about Jackie and the incredible impact she had on the life of our very own Adi.
Sadly, we have to share the news that Jackie recently passed away. Yesterday, we had the privilege of attending her funeral, and it feels only right that we take a moment to remember Jackie, reflect on the difference she made, and celebrate the incredible legacy she leaves behind.
Around ten years ago, Jackie crossed paths with Adi during what should have been a routine medical for work. As a veteran herself, she recognised the signs of PTSD that Adi had not yet recognised in himself.
Jackie saw beyond what was on the surface. She recognised that something wasn’t right, took the time to listen, and used her knowledge and experience as a therapist to help Adi understand what he was going through.
Her compassion, understanding and timely intervention gave Adi something he desperately needed answers, support and a way forward when life had become incredibly dark.
Jackie didn’t just recognise the signs of PTSD. She recognised a person who was struggling and needed help. And that made all the difference.
It’s no exaggeration to say that Jackie’s intervention saved Adi’s life.
Jackie is a powerful reminder of why we must keep looking out for one another, keep asking questions, keep listening and never underestimate the importance of reaching out.
Sometimes, a conversation can change everything. Sometimes, recognising the signs and showing someone that they are seen, heard and understood can be the difference between someone continuing to struggle alone and finding a reason to keep going.
It’s heartbreaking to know that Jackie is no longer with us. But while we mourn her loss, we can also be grateful for the lives she touched and the difference she made. Her kindness and compassion will continue to live on through the people she helped and the stories that will never be forgotten.
For Adi, Jackie will forever be part of his story. And through sharing that story, we hope her legacy will continue to help others understand the importance of recognising PTSD, seeking support and looking out for our fellow veterans.
What an incredible legacy to leave behind. Not measured in possessions or achievements, but in lives changed, hope restored and the lasting difference one person can make simply by choosing to care.
Rest peacefully, Jackie. Thank you for seeing what others might have missed, for recognising the pain behind the brave face, and for stepping in when it mattered most.
You may no longer be with us, but the difference you made will never be forgotten.
💚 Some people leave a legacy that can never truly be measured, because it lives on in the people who are still here. Jackie was one of those people.
🕊️ Rest in peace, Jackie. Forever remembered, forever appreciated. 💚
