This morning we enjoyed expressing creativity and individuality designing our own personalised mugs & adding a special touch to our much loved cups of tea & coffee 🎨☕️ We then joined together to share meaningful moments of faith & fellowship with hymn singing & prayers with our wonderful chaplains Malar and Jennifer 🙏🏼 The afternoon was spent keeping minds active with group word games & reminiscing on past travels, sharing plenty of fond memories 🌍💖

Today we marked D-Day with a morning of creativity making tissue paper poppy art to honour those who served & sacrificed 🎨🌺 In the afternoon, we joined together for a sing along to familiar wartime classics & reminiscing together with residents sharing their personal memories & experiences during the war. A meaningful day of reflection, companionship & honouring the courage & resilience of a remarkable generation 🌺🇬🇧❤️

As part of Dementia Action Week, we’re exploring how meaningful activities can make a difference.

In this part of Irene’s journey, we explore how music therapy plays an important role in daily life.

These sessions support physical wellbeing, boost mood, encourage social connection and bring moments of joy.

Watch to see how engaging with music can make a meaningful difference.

As part of Dementia Action Week, we’re looking at the importance of connection and community.

Living with dementia doesn’t mean facing it alone.

Dementia cafés, support groups and community events offer a safe and welcoming space for people living with dementia and their families to connect, share experiences and find support.

Care homes also play an important role, providing not just care and support, but a sense of community, routine and belonging.

If you or someone you know is affected by dementia, reaching out can make a real difference. You can find more information at https://mha.org.uk/care-support/types-care-support/dementia-care

As part of Dementia Action Week, we’re exploring the journey of choosing the right care.

Irene and her family share how they made the important decision to choose the right care home for her, while Sue (Home Manager) reflects on how she has settled into life at MHA Fitzwarren House and the support that has helped her feel at home.
