The Belfast so called riots(more like hate fueled violent attacks) is racial trauma. Have your children’s schools spoken about it?

Our children are exposed to racial trauma directly, indirectly, vicariously, sometimes sooner than we’d like them too. Case in point, the Belfast hate riots, they might have questions and you may be struggling with how best to answer them. Focus on reassuring them & validating their feelings.

🎥 I cover this in more depth in my upcoming webinar on 7th July. *17 spaces left* If you need help supporting your children in navigating racial trauma, I got you.🖤

Sometimes these are just throw away comments but they reveal a lot.

We need to remember to pause, be intentional with our language and say what we mean, instead of using these comment to shut down or avoid meaningful conversation and an opportunity to understand the other or a situation.

What comments give you the ick?

Thanks to , I got to meet wonderful people and tried something new, bungee class. 10/10 recommend a bungee class for your inner child. So much fun and laughter!

It did remind me of those baby bouncer we put babies in.🤔And who says they get to have all the fun! Play isn’t just for children, it’s good for adults too. 💛

Ever tried a bungee class?

We don’t talk about this invisible labour enough.

And there’s an added layer for parents who don’t share the same racial identity as their children (but that’s a post for another day).

Because this conversation is so needed, I created a webinar to support and empower you through the realities of Black parenthood.

🎥 “Helping Your Child Navigate Racism” is your space to exhale, feel seen, and learn how to take care of yourself and your children as you navigate the racialised world we live in.

“Black excellence” on the surface seems positive and well meaning, an attempt to affirm us. But the reality is a lot of pressure and expectation comes from “Black excellence”

We can’t black excellence our way out of racism. So I focus on teaching my children to know their worth and have the freedom to be children first.

If you want to get better at helping your child to respond to racial trauma, join me on July 7th for my live webinar.
