Our new Subject Matter Experts are making a big difference across Certitude! In Ealing, Sunny Oyekunle is helping our teams feel more confident with medication, improving safety and making sure people get the support that’s right for them.

Sunny makes sure people’s voices are heard by health professionals, and he works with teams to reduce unnecessary medication in line with NHS STOMP guidance. Working collaboratively within our teams, he considers how to improve people’s wellbeing in more holistic ways, which helps to ease pressure on local NHS services.

It’s amazing to see how specialist knowledge, shared locally, can create such positive change!

The BBC’s campaign is pushing for better recognition and better resources for unpaid carers.

Behind every person who needs support, there’s often an unpaid carer giving everything they have - emotionally, physically or financially.

At Certitude we understand this, which is why, alongside our Unpaid Carers Network we host a monthly Time For Family event for the family members of people we support. The aim of this is to create a space for our families to talk things through if the need to, ask questions, or get advice.

Let’s amplify their voices and push for a society that supports the people who support everyone else.

Movement matters, and this National Walking Month we’re inviting you join Hounslow Walking Group and make fitness social!

Each month our Hounslow team hosts a walking group where they explore the local area while also catching up with friends and making new ones. While the group may be called “Walking Group” anyone is welcome, whether you need assistance or are in a wheelchair!

Meet at the Coach & Horse Pub at 11:30am every Thursday and step out of your comfort zone while making new friends.

This week we've been celebrating World Day for Cultural Diversity!

From sharing food and music to hearing each other's stories, it's been a great way to celebrate the different cultures that make up our wider Certitude community.

Our Executive Director of Quality and Operations, Emma Main, shared: “I had a lovely afternoon meeting and talking to people we support and colleagues. We had some great conversations while being treated to some amazing food prepared by colleagues spanning the globe, from Brazil to Nigeria.”

Our team reflect the richness of the communities we support - blending cultures and perspectives strengthen everything we do.

We asked people within Certitude what is one thing about their culture they’re proud of!

“For World Culture Day, I’m proud to celebrate my Lebanese heritage.

Lebanese culture is rooted in strong family bonds, a deep sense of community, and a tradition of welcoming others with generosity. Our food reflects that spirit, dishes like hummus, tabbouleh, and grilled meats are meant to be shared, bringing people together around the table. Music is another part of our identity, from the rhythms of dabke to the timeless voice of Fairuz, reminding us of joy, resilience, and connection.

“I’m proud to celebrate my British heritage, growing up in London I’ve met many people and shared in multiple cultures. For me, being British is not ancestry but about welcoming and sharing in traditions and customs!” – J

“I feel proud about being Jamaican. The Reggae songs and music has spread globally created by Bob Marley. We have a yearly event to recognise and celebrate the legacy of the legend.”

Diversity isn’t just something we recognise. It’s something that helps us create an environment where everyone feels valued and able to thrive.

Yesterday was the King's Speech and while the topic of social care may not have been mentioned, we wanted to share something worth celebrating

Yvette recently attended a Royal Garden Party, an afternoon where the Royal Family recognises people who have made a positive contribution to their communities, joined by her support worker to share in the day,

Yvette had the time of her life! After receiving her official invitation, selecting the perfect outfit, and preparing for her big day, she declared herself “ready for the King” and felt like royalty herself.

Moments like this show what’s possible when we’re alongside someone - sharing in something special and enjoying the day together.

We’re encouraging our teams and community to take steps towards being safer online!

Today is World Password Day, held to highlight the importance of internet safety. Having gained Cyber Essentials Plus certification, our IT team share their tips on how to keep your password secure and what a safe password looks like. A few simple tips can make a difference.

- Avoid easy to guess passwords - don’t use your date of birth, pet names, or simply 'Password'.
- Use different passwords for different accounts.
- Use a safe password manager. Tools such as IOS or Samsung Pass/Google password manager can create and store strong passwords for you. Don’t keep written copies and don't share with others!

A strong password is long, different, and kept private. While this may be obvious, according to NordPass 123456 is the most used password! 🤯
