At Certitude, our Specialist Support team uses Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to understand what people may be communicating through their behaviour, and to respond in positive, person-centred ways.

As Rose Carew, one of our PBS Practitioners, explains: “Having choice, independence and feeling valued is not a luxury, it's a right."

This approach helps people have more choice, independence and opportunities to live the life they want and by working alongside people we support, families and support teams, our Specialist Support team helps improve long-term wellbeing and quality of life.

This Disability Pride Month, we're celebrating independence in all its forms.

For Joseph that meant travelling to The Hague and exploring his love of history, art, and culture.

From exploring historical landmarks and visiting places of interest, to experiencing a new culture outside of Amsterdam, Certitude supported Joseph to build a trip around his wishes and passions.

Joseph values his independence and enjoys staying connected to the activities, people and places he loves. With the right support, he's able to continue pursuing his interests while planning for the next chapter of his life.

On the last Tuesday of every month, Holland Park Café becomes more than just a café. It transforms into a welcoming creative space where people come together to learn new skills and build meaningful relationships through our Connect & Do workshops.

Over the past year we have held sessions from gel printing and jewellery-making to magazine production, all available for free, open to all in the local community, and designed to make participation accessible and inclusive.

What makes these workshops so special are the people behind them. They are all led by talented artists and creative facilitators with lived experience of learning disabilities and mental health support.

A huge thank you to for their continued partnership in helping to create inclusive community spaces where creativity can flourish!

“I have cerebral palsy and use a wheelchair; this is challenging, but I do not let it stop me!”

This Disability Pride Month, we're introducing Rachel, one of our Treat Me Right! Quality Checkers.

Rachel is an accomplished musician who loves singing, playing the electric guitar and performing live, both as a solo artist and with the band, Sonic Sound Club. Last year, the band made a Rockumentary that was shortlisted for the National Learning Disability and Autism Awards. 🎸

Alongside music, Rachel enjoys supporting people. "Especially my friends who I live with. I help them smile and relax."

Described by friends and colleagues as kind, funny, happy and unstoppable, Rachel brings positivity wherever she goes.

Thank you Rachel for sharing your story and demonstrating the confidence, talent, and determination that Disability Pride Month celebrates.

At Certitude we believe effective commissioning is built on strong, collaborative partnerships that enable high-quality, locally delivered support.

This means sustainable funding that truly reflects the true cost of support, long-term, stable contracts, and a greater focus on outcomes and prevention.

As part of the Association of Mental Health Providers new charter, we welcome the opportunity to work alongside commissioners and partners to ensuring everyone can access the support they need to live the life they want.

The Charity Commissioning Charter sets out a framework for fair VCFSE commissioning practices, in 7 key commitments.
