Funeral Traditions and Presentation

The importance of keeping with funeral traditions is highly important to our family which extends not just to the services we provide but the way we are turned out on the funeral day itself.

Families turn to us in their hour of need for guidance in a highly emotional state and a polished, dignified, professional appearance shows the stability and deep respect we have for their loved one and their family.

The pallbearers who represent our family when carrying your loved ones know the importance of being immaculately turned out which enables our family to show reverence and respect at every possible moment.

This afternoon Rowan called by to see me at the office with mummy.

There’s always plenty of jobs that need doing around the place therefore Rowan was set the task of watering the planters which he successfully completed, after trying to eat them!

(His services were provided with a very very cheeky smile of course!)

A family run funeral business in every sense.

Today we have cared for a family who when we sat down to make the funeral arrangements made us aware that they'd like to take the stress out of driving themselves on the day, but when mentioning a limousine, this felt a little too much for them as there was only a few family members who wished to travel in the car and they thought a limousine was a little 'over the top’ for them.

We therefore offered the use of our spacious and comfortable private SUV which they were thrilled with.

With cold bottles of water ready and waiting for them inside, we travelled together to St. Faith Crematorium for the service which Lewis conducted and officiated. After the service, we then drive the family to the wake for the refreshments.

Our care does not stop there though and 2.5 hours after we leave the family at the wake our driver will return to collect the family and bring them home taking all stress and pressure off what is a remarkably hard day.

No Taxi's or car sharing required! Now that’s what personal care looks like!

Our private car seats 6 mourners with room in the very back for two more petit passengers. This service is also offered at a fraction of the cost of a standard limousine.

Going the extra mile is what we are committed to doing time and time again.

In this heat you have to add extra touches when looking after families particularly on the day of the funeral.

Every family we care for when it’s hot we bring chilled water with us on the funeral to place in the pews of the chapel for when they are seated.

If the family are being chauffeured in a limousine we place bottled water in the cars for the journey.

It’s always the small details you have to stay in tune with and it’s these small details in which we base our family business on

Making contact with a funeral director to advise that a loved one has passed away or is at the end stages of their life can feel a daunting task for most and one that thankfully doesn't have to be done too often.

We have found out recently with a couple of families we have cared for that a direct message can take away that anxiety and it can feel a far more comfortable way of reaching out.

In 2026 when smartphones are at the fingertips of near enough every person, this method can be used by any family member wishing to help ease the initial arrangements.

As well as being at the end of the telephone 7 days a week, Lewis can be contacted anytime for any funeral related questions if this would feel a more appropriate and less challenging way of contacting us. Of course, as is the traditional way, following any initial contact the funeral arrangements are made via a sit down meeting with your family over a cup of tea or coffee.

We are a caring family who are available around the clock, providing one to one care and helping those in need in their most difficult of hours.

This afternoon we looked after a funeral for a family at the Norfolk Bluebell Wood.

We are always amazed at the floral tributes which our florist Danielle Wyatt Flowers turns out and when this was delivered to us in readiness for the funeral this morning it was a wow moment.

The gentleman we cared for was at peace in his garden, surrounded by nature and flowers & this tribute really did capture everything about his life and how he lived.

A very personal service from our family not just in the service we provide but also via our wonderful family run florist.

Our family wish to thank ‘The Three C’s’ group at St. Matthew’s Church for their very lovely gift for our baby boy Rowan.

We have been very warmly welcomed by the church and it’s so kind to receive this gift. Rowan is very appreciative (As pictured) (He did smile, we promise!)

Thank you to the ‘Three C’s’ and the whole church for being so wonderful.

Do you or a family member have any questions to ask surrounding funerals? Talking about funerals is in most part a subject that we tend to bury our heads in the sand with.

This Saturday Reverend Julian and our family will be sitting down over a cup of tea and some cake to invite any funeral related questions. Perhaps clarification is needed on what to do when a loved one passes? We will be able to provide guidance on anything related from initial steps to the services we can offer and how we can offer farewells without the unnecessarily high costs.

From simple unattended goodbye's to the in's and out's of traditional funerals, join us for an informal get together this coming Saturday.

Booklets and information will be handed out to anyone who wishes to be more better prepared.

On Saturday 25th April at 10am Lewis and Rev Julian will be talking about different types and costs of funerals, memorial services and how to prepare for the future. This will be an informal time over coffee and cake with a time for questions. Not everything you hear on social media is true so come and find out. It's free to attend and there's no need to book.

As a small family run business, every time a family pick up the phone to us in their hour of need we understand and fully acknowledge the weight of responsibility which has been placed in us.

No matter how long I’ve been in the profession, when we receive cards like this we know when we lock the door and go home at the end of the day that we have fulfilled our duty and obligation to every family we care for and receiving these cards makes us whole as a family.

Thank you
Lewis and Sarah

What to do with flowers after the funeral?

On nearly every occasion we look after a family for a cremation funeral we are asked what happens to the floral tributes once the service comes to a close. It seems a real shame to leave them behind at the crematorium where nobody else sees them and where after around five days they are disposed of.

Is there a family grave where the flowers can be laid? Perhaps the care home where your loved one resided could display them in their memory for the residents to enjoy.

A family we recently looked after had a Christian service at the crematorium and our suggestion was to check with the minister and display them in the church window or typically they can be laid around the font.

There’s lots of ways to ensure a family maximise the use of the floral tributes and we will always make suggestions of ways to keep every aspect of their memory alive.
