🏛️ A Piece of Berkshire History

Did you know that the beautiful Mansion House at Berkshire Independent Hospital was originally built as between 1802 and 1810 on the historic Coley Park estate in Reading.

Over the centuries, the estate has seen many changes. From its beginnings as a private Georgian residence, it passed through notable families, witnessed the early days of , and even played a role during both World Wars. After serving as government offices for many years, the building fell into disrepair before being lovingly restored in the 1990s.

Today, this Grade II listed building has been given a new lease of life as an integral part of The Berkshire Independent Hospital, housing the diagnostic facility, while preserving its rich architectural heritage.

It's wonderful to think that every day, patients, visitors and staff walk through a building with more than 200 years of history at its heart.

Mr. Patrick Chong is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon for the Varicose Vein Clinic at the Berkshire Independent Hospital in Reading. He provides a comprehensive range of treatments for Varicose Veins and Spider Veins including laser, radiofrequency ablation, injection sclerotherapy, and open techniques. Nearly all our treatments are carried out under a local anaesthetic as day cases with most of our patients returning to work and normal daily activities quickly. All our patients are unique, and Mr. Chong provides a bespoke clinical solution tailored specifically for each patient.

He is the Lead Consultant for the Regional Vascular Unit at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust and has served as director and faculty for the venous courses at the London Postgraduate School of Surgery and for the British Society of Endovascular Therapy.
