MAN MATTERS offers accessible, person-centred services including one-to-one support, counselling, and informal coffee groups, helping men access support in a safe and welcoming environment.

It’s going to be a hot day with warm weather expected over the weekend. Please stay safe.

For most people the summer is an enjoyable time - a chance to get outdoors and be active, hopefully enjoy some good weather and spend time with friends and family.

But we know that there are some risks associated with activities that are more common during the summer.

During the hot weather, please don’t be tempted to cool off in ponds, lakes and flooded quarries as this is an extremely dangerous activity.

Water that looks inviting on the surface may have hidden dangers underneath, such as rubbish and tangled weeds.

Water can be pleasingly cool at the edges but very cold when it gets deeper and again, this gives an increased risk of drowning.

The only safe place to take a dip is at places specifically designed for swimming.

If you spot anyone in danger, please call 999 immediately and ask for FIRE

If you do find yourself in danger in cold water, remember "float to live"

• control your breathing

• call for help or swim to safety
