Cervical screening is one of the best ways to protect yourself from cervical cancer, so it’s important to take up your invitation when it arrives.
If you’ve missed your cervical screening, the NHS may invite you to take an HPV self-test instead. If invited, you can order a kit, take your sample at home or somewhere private, and return it free by post.
You can’t opt in to HPV self-testing – if you’re eligible, the NHS will contact you.

Medication Management: What happens after you order your prescription?

Lots of patients don't realise how many steps take place between ordering a prescription and collecting their medication.

Every prescription request goes through several important checks before you collect it. While some requests can be processed quickly, others may need additional review by our clinical team to ensure your medication remains safe and appropriate.

Our flow chart shows the journey your prescription takes from the moment you place your order through to collection or delivery.

By ordering in good time and allowing up to 4 working days for processing, you can help us ensure your medication is prepared safely and efficiently.

Did you know you can contact us online about your medications using two simple options on our website? Go to https://sleightsandsandsendmedicalpractice.nhs.uk/ and click "Submit a new request".

✅ Medication Request
Use this to order your regular medication or request a medicine that has been prescribed to you before.

✅ Medication Query
Use this to ask our Pharmacist a question about your medication, such as side effects, dosage, or medication interactions.

Choosing the correct option helps your request reach the right team first time, which can help us avoid unnecessary delays and ensure medication requests are processed as quickly as possible.

Please be aware that our usual medication delivery has been delayed due to a road traffic accident.

Please do not come to collect your medication unless you have received a message confirming that it is ready.

We will text you as soon as your prescription is ready to collect. Please be aware there may be a delay due to the circumstances above.

We're looking for a friendly, organised, and customer-focused Care Navigator/Receptionist to join our team. You'll be the first point of contact for patients, helping them access the right services, managing appointments, handling enquiries, supporting prescriptions, and providing excellent reception support.
