Respite care at Cornwell House 🧡

Michael regularly stays at Cornwell House in Ferring, giving his son Simon and his wife Sam a break and peace of mind.

“Knowing he’s safe, getting his medication on time and knowing he’s in a loving atmosphere gives us real peace of mind,” says Simon.

Michael agrees: “The people are very friendly, the home-cooked food is very good and I enjoy the company. It’s very homely – it feels like home.”

While respite care often requires a much longer minimum stay, Cornwell House offers stays from just one night – and Simon and Sam have already booked Michael’s stays for next year.

🏡 There’s no place like home.

For many people, staying in their own home and keeping their independence is really important.

Our Support at Home team is there to lend a helping hand, whether that’s around the house, preparing meals, getting out and about or simply spending some time together.

It’s support built around the person, helping them continue doing the things that matter to them, in the place they know best. 🧡

Pen-pal friendship brings the joy of handwritten letters to Cornwell House

It all started with an idea from Jane, one of our carers at Cornwell House, part of Beehive Care in Ferring – to bring back the joy of having a pen pal.

Doris and Frances spent four months exchanging handwritten letters about their lives, families and interests before finally meeting in person.

Frances said: “We just chatted away instantly, we had tea and cake, we laughed and smiled as though we had known each other for years.” When you think about it, how often do you receive a letter – and even better for me, from my pen pal Doris.”

Four months of letters, one lovely afternoon together and a very special friendship made, The pair have agreed to continue writing to each other and are already planning to meet again soon

Would you like to find out more about Cornwell House or become a pen pal to one of our residents? Message us – we’d love to hear from you.
