The LIV Center for Reproductive Healing

The LIV Center for Reproductive Healing Reproductive health care and mental health for all I asked friends and family if what I was feeling was common, and I was not encouraged by what I heard.

When I found out I was pregnant, I went through a roller coaster emotions ranging from sad to excited to scared.Pregnancy did not start off magical as most women experience in the first trimester. However, as I progressed into the second trimester, I realized that my anxiety and depression in the beginning had not subsided. I felt shame in being depressed while pregnant, not to mention the shame I

felt for not having the perfect pregnancy. I went through much of my pregnancy alone and not empowered to reach out for help. After I gave birth, postpartum depression increased with my change in hormones. Guilt over not being perfect and supplementing breast milk with formula was the source of daily tears. I kept thinking that I was the only mom that ever struggled. I didn't reach out until I had a dramatic change in hormones from the end of nursing my daughter. It was then I found out that thousands of new mothers fight antepartum and postpartum depression every year, and I guarantee they often feel shame for not being the perfect mom too. Since my journey, I have resolved to help encourage and strengthen pregnant women and new mothers. You are not alone and no matter what type of pregnancy and birth you go through, you deserve to have support. We will make it through this together and find hope and connection in this beautiful transition into motherhood.

None of us are free until we are FREE. While you enjoy the outdoors and the pomp and circumstance, never forget there’s work to do. The work of liberation is active, not passive. We have never truly been a free nation, but together we can work toward that freedom.

Repost from

Independence Day only tells half the story.

In 1776, a nation declared its freedom. But in 1619, the first enslaved Africans were forced onto these shores and that history doesn’t disappear just because it’s inconvenient to the celebration. You can’t proclaim liberty for all while leaving out the chains that built the wealth behind it.

Honest history isn’t anti-American. It’s the only way to actually understand America.

Reproductive rights are human rights. We support you, your body, your choices, your humanity. 4 years ago, they took away rights, but they cannot take away solidarity and community. Let’s keep rising in solidarity.

Happy Juneteenth, High-Functioning Hotties. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽♥️💙🤍

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and informed enslaved Black people that they were free.

That day became known as Juneteenth.

The history of Juneteenth is a reminder that freedom delayed is not freedom denied, but it is a reminder that justice does not always arrive when it should.

For Black Americans, liberation has never been a single moment in history. It has been a continuous fight for safety, dignity, opportunity, health, education, voting rights, and the right to simply exist fully in our humanity.

At High Functioning Black Girls, we believe wellness is part of that legacy.

Because freedom is not just physical.
It’s emotional.
It’s financial.
It’s mental.
It’s the ability to rest without guilt, access quality healthcare, speak your truth, and build a life that isn’t centered around survival.

As we honor Juneteenth in 2026, we remember those who came before us and reflect on what freedom looks like for us today.

May we continue unlearning survival mode.
May we protect our peace.
May we make room for joy.
May we remember that wellness is not separate from liberation.

📣 Juneteenth – Freedom Day

🗓️ June 19th

Today we honor the strength, resilience, and triumph of a people who never gave up on freedom.
Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom — two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

❤️💛💚
Let us remember. Let us reflect. Let us rise.

Pride Month!

During a debate in the House of Commons during Pride Month last year, Labour MP Sir Chris Bryant made a powerful speech about the importance of Pride Month.

He said that even the most “well-meaning liberal souls” have questioned why Pride is still necessary, and whether the LGBTQ+ community still needs more rights.

Bryant responded that “we have always needed Pride” and “we need it now”.

happy pride month 🌈

a reminder that pride is not just an aesthetic, trend, or rainbow filter. it exists because people fought to be seen, loved, protected, and allowed to exist openly.

this month is about joy, identity, history, community, and making space for people to be fully themselves.

whether you’re out, questioning, closeted, celebrating loudly, or quietly surviving, you belong here 🤍

This is by far the hardest post we’ve ever had to write as an organization. This past Wednesday, May 27, our former teammate Marchell R**e, died after a long battle with cancer. Marchell joined Liv Center back when it was Push Counseling in 2020. Since then she had served as a co-clinical director, intern supervisor, speaker, mentor, friend, and chosen family to us over the years.
Her fierceness, her brilliance, and her light were ever present, all while cheering on others to rise with her. Marchell was a vital part to this team and to many of our personal lives. Our prayers are with her family as they grieve and navigate life without her presence on this Earth.
It’s never about the amount of time you are alive, but what you do to make it count and leave something behind. Marchell made every moment count and has definitely left a lasting impact to those who knew her.
May her soul find rest, and may her memory be a blessing.
