A different meeting last night - we played BINGO. We learned a lot of about our members. Each Lion could sign the sheet once. We found out who was a past president, who received Lion of the Year, who could name the 8 causes of Lions, who has multiple members of their family in the club, and more. Great conversations were generated.

Lions,
As Lions, we are renowned for our compassion, generosity and service. This year marks my 14th year as a Lockport Lion and my 14th year participating in The Ride for Roswell. Looking back, I am both grateful and proud of my involvement in both endeavors. As we all know, the fight against childhood cancer is a Lions Global Cause. Many people in Western New York, like me, have felt the profound impact of cancer. Perhaps like me, someone you know or someone in your family has been touched by this devastating disease.

The 2026 Ride for Roswell will take place on June 27th. As one of the largest cycling events in the nation, the Ride for Roswell is a powerful reminder that each of us has the ability to make a real difference. All funds raised go directly to cutting-edge cancer research and vital quality-of-life programs that support patients at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and beyond.

When you donate, you are not just contributing to research — you are giving hope to patients and families who turn to Roswell for care. With the generous support of numerous donors, and particularly my fellow Lions, I was proud to raise over $17,000 for last year’s ride and exceeded $100,000 in the past 13 years. I truly appreciate all of the clubs and individual Lions for their incredible support in helping me achieve this goal. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to me. I’ve set a personal fundraising goal of $20,000 for this year’s ride, and I’m asking for your club’s support to help me achieve it. Every dollar donated to research at Roswell is leveraged to secure an additional $23 in grant funding! Every donation takes us one step closer to ending cancer.
I urge each Western New York Lions Club to join me in making a difference as a proud Lion by supporting this vital cause. Together, we can change lives and bring hope to those in need.

Sincerely,
Lion Joe
