Today, BryLin Hospital joins people around the world in recognizing 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆 — a day dedicated to raising awareness, challenging stigma, and advocating for greater access to mental health care.

Mental health challenges can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or circumstance. Yet too often, fear, misunderstanding, and stigma prevent people from reaching out for the help they need.

Some of the most important moments in behavioral health happen when a person is in crisis and needs someone who can provide calm, compassion and hope.

At 𝗕𝗿𝘆𝗟𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹, our nurses are an essential part of those moments. And strong nursing leadership helps make sure our teams have the support they need to provide compassionate care to children, adolescents and adults when they need it most.

For experienced psychiatric nurses, stepping into a supervisory role can be an opportunity to make an even greater impact — supporting care recipients while also mentoring, guiding and advocating for fellow nurses.

If you've built your career in psychiatric nursing and are thinking about what your 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 might look like, we'd love for you to learn more about nursing leadership at BryLin.

Observed during the first full week of October, 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 (Oct 4th - 10th) is an opportunity to raise awareness, increase understanding and help reduce the stigma that too often surrounds mental illness.

Mental illness can affect anyone — our family members, friends, coworkers, neighbors and loved ones. And while we’ve made progress in talking more openly about mental health, stigma can still prevent people from sharing what they’re experiencing or reaching out for help.

This week, we encourage everyone to help change that.

💚 Start a conversation.
💚 Listen without judgment.
💚 Learn more about mental illness.
💚 Check in on someone you care about.
💚 Remind others that asking for help is a sign of strength.

At BryLin Hospital, we believe no one experiencing a mental health crisis should have to face it alone. Through greater awareness, compassion and access to appropriate care, we can help more people find the support they need — and the hope they deserve.

Depression doesn’t always look like sadness. It can look like exhaustion, irritability, isolation, hopelessness or simply trying to make it through another day.

That’s why recognizing the signs — in ourselves and in the people we care about — matters.
