In a year, so much can change in our lives.
A year ago, I felt like I was a completely different person.
Trying to be everything to everybody, people-pleasing, finding it difficult to say no without feeling guilty, not setting boundaries, and lying down like a doormat for everyone to walk all over.
I remember nights I couldn't sleep - letting all my failures and disappointments run through my mind over and over again. The overthinking, constant worry about what others think, and the anxious thoughts were all so draining. They were definitely stealing my joy.
I used to think being strong meant you didn't cry, you didn't show your weaknesses or struggles, or show emotions in any way.
There's a quiet kind of peace that comes from looking back and recognising that you've grown, healed, learned, or simply become more aligned with who you truly are. It doesn't always happen with dramatic changes. Sometimes it's the absence of old worries, old reactions, or old versions of ourselves that show us how far we've come.
One year later and I know — true strength is being honest with yourself, allowing your heart to heal, and standing up again after you’ve fallen a hundred times.
Growth isn't always about becoming more. Sometimes it's about letting go of what no longer belongs to us and finding peace in the space that's left behind.
Take a moment to appreciate that version of yourself from a year ago too. They helped get you there.
"Looking back, I barely recognize the person I was a year ago—and for the first time in a long time, both my heart and mind are at peace." I hope you find your peace soon!
