We’re glad to introduce Katia, a clinical intern at The Pine Center offering accessible counseling with care that is both thoughtful and highly supported.

Katia provides individual therapy for adults navigating anxiety, depression, overwhelm, and life transitions, with a focus on building emotional awareness and steadier internal grounding. She will also focus on supporting healthcare workers experiencing burnout, compassion fatigue, and workplace stress, as well as LGBTQIA+ clients seeking affirming, identity-safe care.

Katia offers services in both English and Spanish (Estoy ofreciendo servicios en Español), making therapy more accessible for Spanish-speaking communities.

Working with a master’s-level clinical intern means your care is held within close supervision by a licensed clinician, offering multiple layers of reflection, support, and clinical oversight. This model also helps make therapy more financially accessible, with session cost reduced to $30. Katia also has pro bono spots available. Pro bono spots tend to fill quickly, so please reach out soon to secure your spot.

Katia is a master’s-level clinician from Northwestern University, offering virtual sessions and in-person availability in Charlotte on Wednesday afternoons.

If you’re looking for accessible, relational care with strong support behind the scenes, Katia may be a good fit.

We’ve been sitting with what it means to do this work alongside one another. Not just as clinicians, but as a team trying to offer care to our clients that feels consistent, human, intentional, and reliable in a world that often isn’t (IYKYK).

At The Pine Center, our work shows up differently depending on who you meet with:

Kaci works with dissociation and complex trauma, helping clients make sense of fragmented internal experiences and shift long-standing CPTSD survival patterns.

Laura works with attachment, trauma, and relationships, supporting individuals and couples in building more secure, intentional ways of connecting.

Katia supports anxiety, depression, and burnout, with accessible care for healthcare workers and Spanish-speaking communities.

We don’t view healing through a single lens. We each bring unique perspectives and see it as relational, layered, and shaped by context. We’re grateful to do this work together and look forward to doing it alongside you, too.

“Patients with these histories rarely make the connection between what happened to them long ago and how they currently feel and behave.
“Everything just seems unmanageable. Relief does not come until they are able to acknowledge what has happened and recognize the invisible demons they're struggling with…
“If your heart is still broken because you were assaulted by someone you loved, you are likely to be preoccupied with not getting hurt again and fear opening up to someone new.” -Bessel van der Kolk

Therapy isn’t just about the couch, it’s about the community.

As therapists, we see every day how systemic barriers, like Mecklenburg County’s years-long r**e kit backlog, harm survivors’ healing. No one should have to wait years for justice, or carry the weight of unanswered questions.

That’s why Therapists for Change was created and showed up, stood alongside survivors, and spoke out to our local leaders. Advocacy is part of care. When systems fail to protect, we raise our voices, together. Clinicians from The Pine Center joined 70+ other local clinicians to raise our concerns.

Survivors deserve timely testing, transparency, and action. We will keep showing up until the backlog is gone and the system changes.

We know therapy can be life-changing.
We also know a lot of people in our Charlotte community can’t afford it right now.

The truth is, we’re seeing more and more folks dealing with trauma, burnout, dissociation, chronic stress, and more while also navigating financial instability, caregiving, racism, homophobia, ableism, ecological grief… the list goes on.

That’s why we started something we really believe in:
The Community Care Fund at The Pine Center.

It’s simple. 100% of what you donate goes directly to helping someone access mental health care... whether that’s therapy, a diagnostic evaluation, or just having a place to land when things feel too heavy to carry alone.

This fund is open to anyone in the greater Charlotte area, not just our clients. Recipients of funds are not required to use funds at our office, they can use these funds wherever they need to receive care. It’s mutual aid, not charity. And it’s one small way we’re trying to make care more accessible in a world that doesn’t always make sense or make life easy.

If you’re in a place to give, even a few dollars, it truly makes a difference.
And if not, sharing this helps too.

Thank you for being part of a community where no one has to do it all alone.

The Community Care Fund offers mutual aid-support as way for folks to accessing therapy sessions through partial subsidy or, when possible, at no cost to the individual seeking care.

You’re not too sensitive. You’re not imagining it. The world is on fire — figuratively, literally, and existentially.

If you’re feeling numb, anxious, bone-deep tired, or like you're constantly bracing for the next crisis… you’re not alone.
At The Pine Center, we work with folks navigating collective trauma, ecological grief, and the emotional toll of just trying to survive systems that were built to prevent thriving.

Our latest blog post names what so many people are carrying right now and offers a different kind of support. One that’s rooted in dignity, nervous system care, and a deep understanding of how oppression, burnout, and grief show up in the body.

❤️ Share with someone who might need it today.
You deserve care that sees the full picture, not just your symptoms.
