At Tuesday night's City Council meeting, Mayor Gallagher proclaimed May 2026 as Mental Health Awareness Month in our community.

This proclamation was requested by NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley and was received by Nicole Carkner, Executive Director, Quad City Health Initiative, (pictured in the center) and Mark Mathews, Executive Director, NAMI Greater Mississippi Valley (pictured on the right).

This proclamation encourages all citizens to promote education on the importance of prioritizing mental health and reaching out to get connected to services if a mental health concern arises.

The 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the United States. When you call, text, or chat the 988 Lifeline, your conversation is confidential. The 988 Lifeline provides you judgment-free care. Talking with someone can help save your life.
