Did you know Alabama Birth Center offers water birth?

Many families choose Alabama Birth Center because local hospitals do not offer water birth as an option.

Laboring and giving birth in warm water can provide comfort, relaxation, and a calm way to welcome your baby into the world.

Many ABC babies have been born in our birth tubs, and moms say the water was one of their favorite comfort measures during labor.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY D! ✨

We recently welcomed a precious baby who was born en caul, meaning they entered the world still completely surrounded by the amniotic sac. This occurs in fewer than 1 in 80,000 births and is often considered a symbol of good luck and protection.

The amniotic sac cushioned and protected this little one throughout pregnancy, and for a few extraordinary moments, it remained intact even during birth. It was a breathtaking reminder of just how incredible the birth process can be.

Congratulations to this amazing family on the arrival of their sweet baby! Thank you for allowing us to be part of such a powerful and unforgettable moment. đź’›

The data is clear. Organizations like the World Health Organization consistently show that most maternal and newborn deaths are preventable—and that countries and communities with more equitable systems have far better outcomes. In a state that models deliberate neglect, Alabama Birth Equity Initiative is galvanizing a coalition of skilled birth workers and Black Midwives. As both survival and political resistance, black women's caregiving extends beyond individual households to sustain entire communities under conditions of systemic neglect. For ABEI, intersectionality is essential: the crises facing Black women in Alabama—maternal mortality, poverty, food insecurity, domestic violence—are not isolated issues but compounding systems of violence that require integrated responses.
