Recovery after Lipedema surgery involves more than most people realize. 💙

From manual lymphatic drainage and proper compression fitting to monitoring skin integrity and recognizing potential complications, postoperative care requires individualized treatment and close communication with the surgeon.

And when traveling is painful or difficult, receiving care at home, a hotel, or a recovery center can make the process a little easier.

Positioning is an important part of lymphatic treatment. 💙

Before I start, I look at what each patient needs—especially after surgery. That can mean avoiding pressure on certain areas, using an incline, elevating the legs, or simply making adjustments for comfort.

There really isn’t one setup that works for everyone. I adjust the positioning based on the patient, their precautions, and what they need that day.

Not all compression serves the same purpose. 💙

Depending on your level of swelling, you may need compression to help reduce swelling first, followed by compression to help maintain your progress.

The right type of compression depends on your individual needs.
