This past weekend, Jewish communities around the world celebrated the holy days of Rosh Hashanah, marking the beginning of the Jewish New Year. Rosh Hashanah is a meaningful time for reflection, renewal, prayer, and hope for a healthy and peaceful year ahead.

Los Angeles has the second-largest Jewish population in the United States, with an estimated 560,000 to over 600,000 Jewish residents. Rosh Hashanah reminds us to be mindful of the traditions, spiritual needs, and practices that may be important to our Jewish patients, families, and colleagues.

At Olive View our Spiritual Care Services team partnered with the LAHS Jewish Affinity Group to celebrate Rosh Hashanah. Along with some tasty challah and apples/honey, we engaged workforce, patients, and community members in learning more about the Jewish High Holy Days.

25 years later, we remember.

On September 11, 2001, our nation changed forever. Today, we honor the lives lost and the first responders, nurses, and healthcare professionals who stepped forward to care for others during an unimaginable tragedy.

The health impact of 9/11 continues today, as survivors and responders face long-term conditions including respiratory illnesses, cancers, and mental health challenges.

We remember those we lost, honor those who served, and recognize those still living with the lasting effects of 9/11.

We're still soaking in our Bring Your Family to Work Day at Olive View!

Loved ones of our staff, ages 9 to 80 (yes, 80!), came and got a hands-on experience of what it's like to work at Olive View.

This was a chance to celebrate the people behind the work. Every day, our staff care for patients and support one another, but they're also parents, spouses, siblings, grandparents, partners, friends, and caregivers. We wanted to welcome the people who support them and give a glimpse into the place where their loved ones make a difference every day. ❤

At Olive View–UCLA Medical Center, caring for the whole person is at the heart of what we do. In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Recreation Therapy Department hosted a special event for our patients that focused on emotional wellness, connection, and healing.

Through therapeutic activities, educational resources, and support from our multidisciplinary team, patients were provided opportunities to strengthen resilience, build community, and enhance their overall well-being throughout their recovery journey.

Thank you to the Recreation Therapy, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Social Work teams for their continued dedication to compassionate, patient-centered care.
