At Olive View–UCLA Medical Center, caring for the whole person is at the heart of what we do. In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Recreation Therapy Department hosted a special event for our patients that focused on emotional wellness, connection, and healing.

Through therapeutic activities, educational resources, and support from our multidisciplinary team, patients were provided opportunities to strengthen resilience, build community, and enhance their overall well-being throughout their recovery journey.

Thank you to the Recreation Therapy, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Social Work teams for their continued dedication to compassionate, patient-centered care.

As we reflect on National Hospital Week at OVMC, our hearts are full of gratitude.

Last week was more than just a celebration, it was an opportunity to honor the incredible individuals who dedicate themselves each day to caring for our patients, supporting families, and serving our community with compassion, strength, and commitment.

Today’s Medicine for the Soul Remembrance Event gave our staff a meaningful opportunity to pause, reflect, and honor the patients who have touched our lives and are no longer with us.

Through shared stories, quiet moments of reflection, and heartfelt messages, staff were able to write the names and memories of those they wished to remember and celebrate. Each note served as a reminder of the deep connections formed within healthcare and the lasting impact our patients leave on our hearts.

Today reminded us that behind every role in healthcare is compassion, humanity, and the privilege of caring for others during life’s most vulnerable moments.

Together, we created a beautiful and supportive space filled with remembrance, healing, and connection.

A huge thank you to our spiritual care department for leading a beautiful and heartfelt ceremony that brought comfort, reflection, and meaning to the event. Your presence and guidance made this even more special for everyone who attended.

During the month of April, we celebrate Armenian Heritage Month, a time to honor Armenian culture, history, and traditions.

At Olive View, we are proud to serve a large Armenian patient community and to work alongside many dedicated Armenian staff members.

We brought this celebration to life with traditional Armenian coffee, sweets, and flowers in red, blue, and orange to reflect the colors of the Armenian flag. Together, we honored resilience, remembrance, and the strong sense of community that defines Armenian heritage.
