We can't tell you how many times people will say, "oh, all my scars keloid!", when in reality is a pretty normal scar that may be a bit raised or a bit wide. Fortunately true keloids (which are essentially tumors made of scar tissue) are rare. But scars can vary from a fine line to raised, pink, and ropy. Incisions with less tension on them tend to heal with better scars. And some areas of the body are simply prone to more noticeable scars. This is an important part of the conversation during the surgical consultation, so you can know what to expect.

Think of facials as maintenance + prevention, and lasers as correction + transformation.

While sunscreen helps protect against UV damage, heat can still trigger melasma and dark spots, even without direct sun exposure. That's why pairing your SPF with a pigment inhibitor like Obagi clear, or Alastin A-Luminate serum is key for preventing and correcting discoloration.

A recent article in the Guardian discussed the trend toward artificially stiff and plastic-appearing results from filler and neurotoxin. But is this artificiality inevitable?
Absolutely not! The overly filled, overly frozen look happens to be a current trend in the cosmetic industry, but the vast majority of patients still desire a more subtle and natural improvement. Which we heartily approve of at Greer Plastics (and we have been known to turn down requests for more filler if the result would appear unnatural.)
