Most people don’t know the story of how PHP started.
In 2017, PHP wasn’t a gym.
It was a mobile personal training and nutrition company.
Then in 2018, our friends at offered us a small room in the back of their office to put in a gym.
And when I say small, I mean small.
Everything you see in these pictures was the gym.
Not one section of it.
The entire gym.
480 square feet hidden in the back of a chiropractic office.
A little speakeasy gym that most people never even knew existed.
The truth is, we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into.
We weren’t experienced business owners.
We had no systems.
No fancy equipment.
No amenities.
No real roadmap.
What we did have was a couple of passionate fitness professionals who genuinely knew how to help people.
And honestly, that was enough.
Our business plan was pretty simple:
1. Help people.
2. Hope they tell other people.
3. Repeat.
Thankfully, it worked.
Not without mistakes.
Not without growing pains.
Not without plenty of lessons learned the hard way.
But it worked.
Today we have multiple locations.
We have systems.
Technology.
Better equipment.
More resources.
But one thing our origin story taught us is that none of those things are the most important thing.
What matters is helping people get results.
What matters is treating people with connection, care, and respect.
What matters is creating an environment where people feel supported, encouraged, and believed in.
The rest tends to take care of itself.
It might sound cliché, but when someone joins PHP, they’re not just joining a gym.
They’re joining a team.
A group of PEOPLE invested in their goals, their health, and their success for the long haul.
People who sometimes believe in them more than they believe in themselves.
That tiny 480-square-foot gym taught us lessons that still guide us today.
At this point, we’ve had the privilege of helping 1000s of local families navigate every type of health and fitness challenge you can imagine.
And while a lot has changed since these photos were taken, the mission hasn’t.
Help people.
Treat them right.
Everything else follows.
